    Welcome todd!

Finished up a new 2 acre plot this past weekend along with another 1/2 acre. The 2 acre was a thick pine and junk tree thicket. Turned out pretty good and finished seeding yesterday. Soil test called for 5 ton per acre of lime so it will take some time to build up. Planted a mix of cereal rye, oats, peas, radish and clover. Praying for rain now!

    What was your pH?

I dropped 4 tons by hand 2 years ago on a a total of 1 acre now its just a matter of maintaining. Made a big difference in attraction of the plot though. So it was worth it.

PH came back at 5.1 which I figured would since it sits on top of a pine ridge. Will be putting 1/2 of the recommended lime down this fall and the remainder down late spring and test again late summer.

Mine came in at 5.5. I added all the lime in February and March. Every weekend Id load up a 1000 lbs of pelletized and go drop it and repeat. By fall it was good to go.

Our season opens up the 15th. I don't get too excited about getting out in September but that all depends on harvest and the weather.

Yeah Im with you brother. I hate the temps, mainly for the possibility of lost meat. A buck is nice but my main reason for hunting is the meat.

Ok guys just a little refresher:

We need two pictures of you, the deer and your equipment to be added to the scorecard thread. Be sure to also record the date and time of the kill. It has to be the whole deer not a picture of the head after it has been quartered. If you feel so inclined you can also list your equipment.

You have to enter the first antlered deer you kill as your buck score. As second animal or a doe can be entered for 50 additional points. If the total gross score of the buck is less that 50 points it defaults to 50 points.

If you have any questions just ask.

Season opens tomorrow. Still gonna be up close to 90 but I'll probably sit either tomorrow evening or Sunday evening.

Season is still 3 weeks out here. Checking cams this weekend, checking stands and possibly do some dove hunting depending on the rain. Calling for up to 5" of rain from tonight until Monday. I won't be made, our plots need rain bad!

Today is our season opener in certain parts of the state. It was a perfect morning too, weather was in the high 40’s at sunrise, mid 60’s now. I’m not able to get out as I am on daddy duty today.
On a side note, killed a nice bear Monday evening, roughly 225lbs. Didn’t have a scale handy so never got the official weight.
Planning on getting in a stand this week to try and stick a deer!

E50BE168-1A23-4154-97B7-B00ADC32AB73.jpeg So this weekend was the opener in Carolina. But it was also the weekend that my step son left for OCS. So I decided it was best to stay around the house with the wife this weekend. This is what visits my plot Sunday morning.
