I sent a message to the last 3 guys to check in when they could so they should at least have a pop up.
Here seeing anything above a 3 year old is tough. Mainly because with all the tags people aren’t very selective. Don’t get me wrong we have some nice deer but no where the numbers we should here in the southeast
Understandable. I just wish I could have one doe tag every year so I don't have to wait until December to try to shoot a doe when the bucks leave my properties. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Hey guys, checking in! My name is Eric, been doing this contest for a few years now it’s a great time! I’m from Maine, and I’ll be bow hunting here and Illinois this fall. Looking forward to the season!
As far as a captain, I’m down for whoever would like to take that spot.. We can shoot two bucks and in certain areas as many does as we want to buy tags for here in Maine. This year in Illinois I’ll have a buck and a doe tag for archery and a buck and a doe tag for shotgun. I’m usually good for at least 50 points. I haven’t had a chance to get many cams out yet, I do have a few near my house with a couple decent bucks on them. That area opens up the end of September, another area opens up on the 12th of September. Right now most all of my cams are on our bear baits.
Little intro to myself, Chris from Ohio 36yrs old married 10 yrs with one 8 yr old son who shot his first deer, a 9pt last year with a xbow (pic attached). I'll be mainly hunting OH this year with a trip to Oklahoma for the muzzleloader season, 10/31-11/4. The last few yrs I haven't had much luck during bow season but managed to knock a few out during the late season muzzleloader here in Ohio. It was mostly due to targeting one specific buck only and passing multiple chances at other great bucks. Plans are changing this year and will target multiple bucks that meet my criteria of 4yrs old or older. As for captain, I'll nominate copperhead.
Hey guys always have a good time with the contest. Have made some good friends over the years. Usually really active during the season if others are on the thread. Little about my self live in Ohio on Lake Erie. Work for Cleveland Clinic as exercise physiologist. Hunt almost 50 days during the season very particular when it comes to targeting bucks always on doe patrol on properties I hunt. Looking forward to season! Have a lot of stuff to get done before then. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Congrats to your son Chris. Thats a dandy buck. I get targeting one buck and my list is a lot smaller than it has been in the past. But this is all about making new friends and having fun in the process. Looking forward to seeing what you get. In regards to captain, Id like to see if anyone else wants a turn in that seat. If not I'll certainly pick it up. Its not overly complicated. Thanks for the nomination.
Alright guys we are all checked in. Few logistical things to consider: 1. Anyone what to be team captain? 2. Team name suggestions 3. Logo ideas Im no expert but I could probably do the logo I just dont have the creativity to design one. :-) Also to sweeten the pot I am willing to do a team prize pack. Nothing elaborate but something you can use for hunting. That is yet to be determined. Essentially whomever puts up the most recorded points in our in team will get the prize pack. What that pack is will be determined at a later date. Good luck this year and looking forward to seeing what you guys lay down this year. Remember to check in often to let us know how things are progressing but most importantly just have fun!!
1) Copperhead 2) I suck at names so i'll just vote once we get a few options 3) Same as #2 Like mentioned, the more active we are on this thread, the more fun the contest is!
1. My vote is for Copperhead as well. 2. Tagged out by 10? 3. I can’t design much of anything to save my life, so I’ll have to let someone else take that.
By way of intro, my name is mike. I hunt in northern Illinois. 26 when the season starts, and short69 is my dad.
I agree with what the above gents said. Copper quit fighting it you are the captain now. I'm excited to see the level of activity rising above some of my teams in the years past. That definitely helps keep the motivation levels up (not to mention a prize incentive) A little bit about me. 27 year old from NW Iowa. My first child was born in March of this year. Naturally it has been hard for me to get away from the house as much as I used to so I started restoring an old 79 CJ5 Jeep this July in my garage so that I have a hobby to do while I'm "stuck" at home. The jeep and baby have been keeping me so busy that I haven't had any time to get cams up or anything. Not to mention that my primary hunting ground was 12ft under water this summer due to extreme flooding. Not sure how that is going to affect the wildlife down there yet. I have a secondary hunting ground 2 hours south where I grew up. Last year i connected on a really nice 8pt but was unable to recover him (it's a long story). The goal is to get a couple cams out in september maybe? Otherwise it will be pretty much a surprise what might walk up to me once I eventually get out in the stand. Looking forward to the season guys!
