Pulled cards today and had a new buck show up a couple of says ago. He's been on the property twice in the middle of the night. Hopefully the rut brings him in during the day. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Congrats short69!! I haven't been out as much as I'd like to, but I've had some encounters with does and one buck I probably should've shot. the does haven't given me a shot either.. I've got a bunch of different bucks showing up on my trail cams around this house this year, just need to connect with one now! I head to Illinois this coming Sunday morning for a week of hunting, cant wait!
I've been out a few times here in the last week and a half. A week ago today I had my number 1 at 8 yards with no shot! Talk about devastating. Thursday night I saw 2 does, 2 fawns and a small buck. Friday night I tried my buck decoy for the first time and grunted in a small buck, perfectly broadside at 20 yards and he never took his eyes off the decoy. Too small for me but it was awesome seeing the decoy work like it was supposed to. Saturday shotgun season opened here in MN. I didn't sit Saturday but sat Sunday morning with my bow and took my wife with her shotgun Sunday night. Didn't see a deer all day Sunday. Not sure if i'll get out the rest of this week or weekend but my boss is in Alaska next week so I'm hoping to get some more sits in then. At that point, depending on how the rut is looking, I may shoot a doe. I only get 1 deer so I don't want to yet but my properties change quite drastically come mid to late November.
No luck in Oklahoma for me. Weather was tough and the bigger bucks were locked down only showing on cameras throughout the night. Did have a chance at a 150's 10pt that was locked with a doe, but he never presented a clean shot hiding behind a cedar thicket at 20 yds.... She turned and bolted the opposite way and he followed. It was still a great trip and will definitely be back next year. Now it's time to get serious here in Ohio. Bucks are on the move and the incoming weather for this weekend and next week is PERFECT!
I had a short tined 3 year old come in on Sunday. When I reached for the bow the chair in the blind popped. He hated that. Then when I went to swing back the chair popped again. He eased off and was too buggered. It was a good experience. I brought the chair home to fix the pop. Don't need that happening. If it had been one of my hit listers I would have burn it
Had a doe at 10 yards went to draw and she turned facing away from me. After a while she got nervous and started working to my left I turned and drew as she moved behind a cedar. Stopped her and shot. I could have sworn the shot looked good but I only found one spot of blood and a clump of white hair. Arrow hit a tree and exploded and there was no blood on it. I followed the trail she took up to the spot I lost sight of her 3 times and never found blood. I guess I just shot low and barely caught her. I hate wounding an animal Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Just checking in this weekend was a bust. Saw a few in Virginia on Saturday but nothing to show for it. Sunday in NC didn't see a deer at all. Hopefully I'll get back out on Sunday. Good luck to all and be safe out there.
Im on vacation most of the next 3 weeks. Hoping to add a doe to the scorecard and help get Fishsoft on the board as well.
Hey guys, got it done Monday morning. Haven’t put a tape to him yet, but I’ll post to the score card hopefully tonight! Working on a doe now!
Due to family commitments I didn't get a chance to hunt this weekend. However on the way back coming down 95 just outside of Fredericksburg I saw a 140 ish class buck standing smack dab in the middle of an open field. It was like a postcard.
