My wife's cousin dropped this buck yesterday during youth season here in GA. Unfortunately for me I strained a back muscle helping a buddy fix his car that was struck by a deer. I stood up this morning and it tightened up so bad it dropped me to the floor so climbing a tree and pulling a bow is out of the question this weekend. It is encouraging to see temperatures below 80 though and the deer are on their feet! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Hey guys, we're in full fledged harvest now so I won't be making it out to the stand for a while. Hoping we're done combining by Halloween so I can take a couple days off and hunt hard. Good luck to everyone that's going to be making it out!
No luck this past weekend. Took my son Saturday evening after an old buck I've had on cam for a couple years, but the wind was just too darn strong with 40-50mph gust. The buck we were after was harvested by Nate Hosie (Head Hunters TV) yesterday afternoon. He was invited to hunt our friends farm that butts up against ours. I plan on hunting a few evenings this week and will probably take my son out again on Saturday. I have a couple more lined up for him.
Had a good sit this evening. High of 58 with a storm coming in so I rushed home skipped school and got into the stand about 5. Had 3 does work into 10 yards on my right but they were coming right at me and i couldn't get a shot. They ended up behind me because I was turned to the right. 6 more ended up working in behind me and I stood there for 40 min trying to get turned to shoot. They got a little spooked and worked their way off. Had a little buck walking off to my right at sunset. Not complaining about the action but man is it frustrating to not get a shot off Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Had a few sits this weekend ended with nothing. Its a small property and they are just not getting there till after dark. I did finally get two shooters back on camera after being MIA for a month. Thats a little encouraging. Primetime is almost upon us. Good luck and be safe out there gents.
Finally got to sit this morning and it was dead. My least favorite time of the year, gun season, opens the Saturday already.. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Hunted a few sits over the weekend. #1 was on cam one night and still has not showed in daylight. Will finish packing tonight and leaving for Oklahoma early tomorrow morning for a 5 day muzzleloader hunt. Hoping the time away will take any pressure off of #1 and I will hit the farm hard when I return. Really have high hopes for when I return from OK, should have perfect weather.
Look on the positive side. More people in the woods could mean more movement by the deer. I generally kill most of my deer during the rifle season but I understand what you mean. We work hard to get close while some cap them from a few hundred yards. But we are all family so can't hate em.
So usually I do a trail camera for the team prize. Would you guys prefer a trail cam or a benchmade knife? Majority wins, let me know your preference.
Oh I don't hate simply because they're gun hunters, they have the same right to the deer I do. I hate because every year we deal with some trespassing, shooting into fields we have cattle in, driving the gravel roads like dumbasses when we're trying to move machinery and the list goes on. Literally hate these 9 days. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
