Okie dokie you guys will hear back from me on Monday, going to hunt some creek crossings and acorn patches - hoping to see some good bucks as the temps as suppose to be the coldest all year good luck
I am heading home here around 1 or so once I get done with class for the day. I will probably head out to the stand around 3:30 or so. Hopefully I see a little bit of action! I am definitely looking forward to my first morning sit tomorrow morning, as I hope the cool temperatures will get the deer moving a little more.
Passed up a 10 and a 8 tonight. Both were mid 130's. Saw 6 bucks but nothing over 3 1/2 years old. They are really starting to move. Getting lots of pictures of new bucks.
I only ended up getting one sit in this weekend because I helped my friend move to a different house. I saw two does and two fawns, but passed on the does as they weren't really as big as I'd like them to be. My dad went out Saturday evening and saw a shooter buck so hopefully one of us can connect with him before the orange army rolls in. We're the only ones that bow hunt in our area so we have a couple of weeks to get one down before everyone else shows up.
Hunted last Thurs/fri/Sat didn't see a deer only a large bobcat that didn't pause long enough for a shot, lots of dog activity on the back of the property so this week will take the climber and move deeper in the woods
Give ya an update on how my last couple weeks have been going. I traveled to Ohio for the last week of October. Had extremely windy days the whole week we were there. I didnt see a shooter buck until the very last morning hunt I had. It just didnt all come together for me in Ohio this year. I have been back in Michigan at my hunting ground since Oct. 31. I had a great hunt on Nov. 2, seeing the number one buck I am after this year and also seen a new buck I would like to harvest. That night I seen a total of 6 different bucks running around like carzy. I am excited to see that the bigger bucks were finally up on their feet. Well I hope everybody is having some good encounters, and stick with it guys. We need to put some bucks down!!
Headin out here in a few minutes for the first hunt of the weekend... I plan on hitting it hard this weekend and will be pretty disappointed if I don't at least have a doe on the ground by Sunday night. Good luck to everyone that's hunting this weekend and I'll check back in a little later with an update.
I had an awesome hunt tonight! I was running a little behind and didn't get to the stand until about 3:45. By the time I made it to my stand i was sweating a bit, so I took a little break and just cooled off at the foot of my treestand. While cooling off, I look up and next thing I know there is an 8-pointer coming down the trail with his head down and grunting away. He looked right at me, and had to have seen me, but completely ignored me and put his nose back to the ground and took off. I climbed up in my stand and about five minutes later another 8-pointer came by, but neither of them were shooters. A few minutes later, I have a yearling come by. I'm already extremely satisfied with my sit, because I'd seen three deer in a matter of the first 15 minutes of being on stand. I also saw a spike, three other does, another yearling, and three bucks still running together. One of the bucks was a definite shooter, as a 9 pointer that would score around 140-145" with a beautiful snow white rack. There were two other 8-pointers with him. All in all i saw twelve deer, three does, two yearlings, and seven different bucks. Needless to say, I can't wait to get back out there in the morning and hopefully get a shot on that 9-pointer.
Good luck IV! Hope the recovery goes as planned and we get to look at some pictures of you behind the deer.
I'm starting to see some bucks. Friday evening I rattled up a 3pt lol, Sat evening I saw a 120 8pt at 60 yards. He made a scrape but wouldn't come in. Yesterday evening I saw a huge buck run by at 80 yards, my buddy jumped him on the way to his stand. I'd say he was at least 150, maybe bigger. I'm hunting all day Thursday, so I'm hoping for the best. Good luck fellas.
Hope all is going well for everybody. I am starting to see some of the bigger bucks up on their feet, but it still seems a little slow out there. I shot another doe yesterday, so thats another deer for the freezer. Best of luck to everybody, lets keep at guys.
Well I've had several encounters with the only shooter buck I've seen so far this season, but I haven't had anything come together yet. Tomorrow is my last day that I'm going to be able to hunt before shotgun season opens up on Friday, and I'm extremely worried that if I don't get the job done that he'll be killed opening morning while I'm stuck in class doing the whole school thing. I've seen him enough times that I would guess him to be pushing 150" as a mainframe 8-pointer with one other little point. I saw him tonight with a doe about 100 yards out, so hopefully I can get lucky and have some luck tomorrow morning or evening. I'm holding off on a doe right now as I don't want to disturb the woods with shooting a doe and having to get her out knowing that he's wandering around in the woods somewhere. How's everyone else doin?? It's been pretty quite lately.
Best of luck Brandon. Let me know how it turns out. Gun season has opened here in MI now, so the hunting is going to slow WAY down. I just gained permission to hunt a new piece of property. I hunted it this last Sunday night. All I can say is WOW. Very small chunk of land but its definitly the right piece. Good luck to all!!!
Hows it going guys? Hope everyone is closing in on some bucks. We definitly need to put some bucks on the ground. Good luck everybody.
still at it here - work has been crazy but hitting the woods every chance I get seeing does and small bucks but nothing worthy of an arrow yet - did see a huge bodied spike Sun am couldn't believe the body size but still holding out for Mr big
