I came up with a strategy. It's gonna be hard but I'm going to stay off the farm for one whole month. We have multiple sets and multiple food plots in place. I'm hoping the absence of humans and abundance of food draws in a late season buck. Going in on Dec. 26 and hunt hard for 3 weeks. We shall see...

I hunted Friday evening. It was 12 with a wind chill of -2 when I headed out. I set up over my soybeans assuming they would be coming in to feed on the standing beans. I saw one little buck and that was it. Pretty surprised that there wasn't more activity. I probably should have went out tonight. We got about an inch of snow over night, and it's been snowing off and all all day long. I'm going to continue to hunt the food because eventually they will have to be in there feeding during the daylight hours. At least I think they should.

We still have a long way to go till the end team. Another decent buck or a few more doe may just seal the deal!

Although I won't be able to add points, ill be in the woods for 3 days. 26, 27 and 28 are reserved for some morning seat time. Looking to put another doe or two down for the freezer. That and I need to drop the doe population by at least a couple here.

Yeah, I'm hoping to add a doe. I going to see about leaving work early and getting an evening hunt in tomorrow, then a morning hunt on Saturday. Not sure how much hunting time I will get in after that, my daughter has a basketball tournament. Like sticks said, I think a couple more deer will seal the deal.

I hope to get out one more weekend this season. Gonna do my best to have a four day trip the weekend between Christmas and New Years. It will be tough to get a buck this late in the season but I hope to get some more meat for the freezer; buck or doe. Maybe I'll get lucky and add a buck to our total. Sure would love to repeat.

i ended my season today with this buck with my muzzleloader. we've been after this one for two years - his rack was nearly identical last year. sharp quartering away shot at 75 yards, deer ran 75 yards.

congrats on the deer Josh! Question? are you a trapper? I notice what appears to be skins in the last picture you posted... What kind of critters are they?

    Well done Josh.

I had to send Fitz a PM, my doe says ENTERED but there aren't any points on our scorecard… trying to cheat the champions!

Good catch Dustin. Both Stick and I have ran the numbers and came up with the same number. 50 more points need to go on the scorecard.
