Deer dander claims its made from deer. Its smells like a deer to me. Anyways, Im pretty sure thats its a 100 percent natural. My buddy derek is alergic to deer and if he gets in on his body or to close to it he breaks out. SO there must be something real in it.

So that’s my problem, I must be allergic to deer.:lol::lol:
Seriously though… this comment sold me on this product. I’ll be picking some up this weekend.

Hey guys its been a while. Deer season starts Saturday here. I've already got off to a good start by arrowing a 200 lb bear yesterday in Wv's early bear season in greenbrier county.

Last few posts have really intrigued. Where can I find Deer Dander? I don't know if I haven't ever noticed it or it it is just not carried in my local stores. As for Evercalm.....Has anyone used this? Also, I've placed a pile of mock scrapes this past weekend and set up some droppers. That said, what is everyones procedures for the licking branch and what products do you use on it.

Awesome bear, makes me think about how much I wish I had a tag the past weekend of hunting.

As deer patterns are changing, what is everyone doing as far as camera movement in attempts to pinpoint mature bucks? This past weekend I moved almost everyone of my cameras. I left mineral sites that had been established, however I also established a couple new ones with moved cameras. I also moved some cameras unto scrapes, mock scrapes, and different trail intersections.

I follow the does year round. I am not as mature a hunter as many others are but, for me following the does have brought the bucks.

I have a great doe population year round. Come rut time this helps me out a ton as they are always around and frequent my plots and mineral sites regularly. That said, big buck camera sightings are way down. So adding to my previous questions...Do you move them or do you keep them in the same local all fall?

First off I would like to say this, Fitzgerald deer dander can be found on team Fitzgerald website, cabelas,eBay, etc... Havnt heard of this product being sold at Walmart or any place like that. As for ever calm I still don't have any information.. I try to leave my cameras in same places year round that way I feel like I never miss a thing. I have not ever used any mock scrapes or droppers. Do the droppers and mock scrapes actually work? I usually hunt the land using the terrain, food sources, bedding areas, funnels and pinch point s to my advantage.. I feel like the more natural I let the deer be, the better opportunity I will have... That's always just kind of been my style, to hunt them, rather than to bring them to me.. That being said I do hunt over food plots of winter wheat and tecomate....

I’m not gonna be much help here but I’ll chime in. Our land is 3 ½-4 hours away from home so we don’t move the cameras very often. We have four spots for 2 cameras. Basically we use the cameras for inventory purposes only. When the season comes around we hunt the known trails from bedding to food, funnels, pinch points, etc. During the rut we have three spots we know the bucks like to use to “round up” does so we hunt those areas hard. Never have tried mock scrapes but I’m learning about them (thanks to this site) so maybe next year.

Any tips on mock scrapes would be appreciated. Would early October be too late to start one this year?

    Nice bear Josh, Congrats!!!

Here is a story to get Team 10 back on the first page.

So I’ve got this piece of scrap pine that’s about ¾” X ¾” X 32”. I put a couple small eye screws in each end and tied on a long shoestring to them. I tied a knot/loop in the middle of the string for my release and adjusted it to be the same draw length as my bow set up. Now when I’m setting in my basement watching the Cardinals games I put on my release and pickup my fake bow to work on my anchor points and my release. I’ve got a small piece of that blue painters tape on the wall of my basement family room that I “aim” at. Well we have can lighting in our basement and the bulb that is right above my target went out. I was way too lazy to change it during the game and just continued to “fake shoot.” My wife walks by and says, “You know we’ve got more of those bulbs on the shelf in the laundry room.” Which and be roughly translated to, “Get off your lazy butt and change the bulb.” I replied, “Oh yeah, I know, but I’m practicing for low light situations.” She rolled her eyes, shook her head, and walked away.:lol::lol:

Where is the like button! I have been known to watch hunting shows/videos in my house and wearing my release. I will talk myself through each approaching deer/shot, anchor my release, and pull the trigger.

Heres what I do with my cameras. During the summer I like to run them in the timber on good creek crossings that go from bedding to food and out along field edges. I use the creek for access and try not to disturb to much. Once september hits I pull them all out and put them on food plots, scrapes or mock scrapes. I also try to locate good licking branches and use them. I try not to check them but once every two weeks. Right now I have most of the cameras on time laps and watching food plots. I have them on the far edges that way there is minimal disturbance when I check them. Ill check them this weekend as long as the wind is right and then we will decide where to hunt from there.

When it comes to mock scrapes I have tried a couple different things. First I use Tinks Power Scrape, I prefer the spay bottle. I put it on my boots to cover my scent and then I spray it on licking branches and all over the ground. On one of our farms the bucks come and start to use them right away. ON my farm at my house the does flock to it and start using it and then the bucks come to the natural doe scent. Im not sure why this is but It has to have something to do with the smells from one farm to another. It must be more natural at my other farm.

I have used the power scrape in the scrape dripper, some bucks don't mind the bottle and some do. Its kind of like cameras some don't mind them and some run no matter what. So I tend to use the dripper 50% of the time.

In my opinion the key to mock scrapes is getting them started and then letting the deer take them over, and keeping scent free.
Theres my two cents hope its helpful.
