My son shot the giant this evening. First hunt by himself. 184 7/8 The buck showed up on a scrape yesterday and I moved in to hunt him. Had a really nice 9pt showing up for my son and sent him to that stand. He had action all evening with bucks chasing does and the flyer buck came in. Made a 30 yd heart shot and he went 75yds max.
Heading west to IL early tomorrow morning. I'll have an antlered and antlerless tag in my pocket. Farm manager pretty much begged us to shoot some does while we are out there. He has 15 kill permits that he hasn't used yet and will use during late season if needed.
Hunted with a buddy on Monday AM and we didn’t see anything. Headed out to WV to trout fish tomorrow-Saturday. Weathers looking good for the first week of November. And I just had this fella show up tonight… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My vacation starts November 6th so I'm starting to count down the days for my 6 weeks off to start - This guys walked past my favorite rut stand at 18 yards this morning
I know I don’t leave tell Monday. I’m just getting excited to go. My wife just informed me. This will be the longest we have not been together since I was in the army. Usually she comes out to Kansas with me and flies home a few days before I come home. I will be gone for 10 days. Of course two of those days are for travel.
Day 3 in Pike Co. IL. We’ve had terrible weather so far with rain and high temps. I messed up on the first evening and passed a stud 8 at last light. Wasn’t sure if it was him or not but as he passed by at 10 yds I new I messed up. Big front just moved in today at 1. Temp dropped 11 degrees. Been in the stand since 2:30 hoping he swings back through at some point. Have a couple really nice bucks besides him in here also.
