hey losers! I see all you liking my team icon but not changing your avatars! It took me all of 3 minutes to create and upload. LFG!!! Anyone hunting this weekend? I'll be in MI checking cams but season doesn't open until Oct 1 there. At some point this week or next I might get up to 'Sconnie to swap batteries in my cams there and maybe hunt that evening. 2/3 cell cams batteries are toast.
It was too big to use as an avatar. I downloaded a free app to resize it but all the ads pissed me off and I didn’t make it that far.
I refuse to comply. I won't be hunting until October. If I play my cards right, I may be able to get the boat out and fish a few more times before the season kicks in. I won't have to worry about scent, wind direction, or being quiet. It really is the best. Hunting is dumb. We finally had a shooter show up on a local farm last night. My buddy's been getting pics of this deer across the road all summer, but he finally ventured over to our side this morning. Now he just needs to stick around for awhile.
This is the one I've been waiting for all summer. We never get velvet pictures of him, but he shows up each fall right around this time and sticks it out until the bitter end. He's 5 this year and this pic doesn't do him justice because he's going to score over 150 as a clean 8 pointer. I thought I had him dead last year as he showed up in my food plot one night in late November. But just as quickly as he arrived, he turned around and left and I never saw him again. My buddy picked up his sheds and he scored a touch under 150 assuming a 20" spread. This year he added a good amount of beam length, tine length, and mass. He's #1 on the "hope to shoot" list for sure.
Crappy pic of a pic, but this is a better look at him. My buddy had pics all summer about 3/4 of a mile from where I hunt. I think he summers over there and then moves into this other spot for the fall.
Anybody hunting this weekend? Our season opens next weekend, 2 Of my 3 boys have their birthdays in September, so we are doing birthday parties all weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not hunting til 10/1 here. I don’t know if I’m going to take it off yet or wait until that weekend. The Indiana university president gave us the week between Christmas and new years off again this year, so that frees up about 40 hours of pto. I normally take that week off for a stay cation. Definitely taking 10/30-11/1 off, 11/11,11/12, 11/14, and 11/15 off. May add some days in there weather and conditions pending
The extended weather forecast for next week looks pretty good, so I may have to give in and take my kid out after all. The bucks I'm watching seem to have been relocating over the last week. Some have shown up for the first time, while others have seemingly vanished. It will be interesting to see where they all end up once October arrives. I'm not too enthusiastic about having a crack at a shooter buck, but I think it's possible I could bank 50 points and some doe meat in the first week. This coming weekend is one of the most enjoyable times of the year for me - going through and doing a final inventory, prep, wash, and organization of all my gear. For some reason, I love getting all my stuff lined out before heading out for my first hunt of the season.
Put new batteries in the cell link trying to get it working, it sent these from July. I feel like a will have an opportunity to see this buck this year
A guy at work fell out of a tree stand last week. Cables broke once he got it set and he didn’t have a harness on. He broke two or three ribs, sternum, split his head open, knocked out, and beat up by limbs on the way down. Then they life lined him to the hospital. He’s back at work but this is you yearly reminder to buckle up. He also explained this is his third tree stand accident. I said, “well you’ve fallen out of tree stands three times, so I don’t think you need to wear a harness. What are the odds it’ll happen a fourth time?”
1. Cables broke on the stand 2. Was using screw in steps in thick bark and the top step kicked out while he was hoisting the stand up due to not being in wood. That time, he bear hugged the tree, slid down about two steps down, and landed on a step. 3. He cut the strap that holds the bottom half of the climber to the top. Therefore, when the bottom didn’t bite, he rode the tree down about 15 feet, while the top half stayed up top. When it did bite, he fell backwards with his feet still strapped into the bottom. Said he was just low enough he was able to put one hand on the ground and get his foot out. Last year, he ran his zero turn off of a bank and broke his arm pretty bad. Neighbor found him knocked out under the lawn mower. I don’t even think he drinks lol
Confused by how one guy could have such bad luck and still be alive. His guardian angel is working overtime.
