interesting night on the cams. Got a pack of 'yotes that I posted in LFTS, and less than an hour later this guy strolled through maybe 150 yards from where the 'yotes were: and this bigass 9 point:
I am done until the 28th. This past weekend was a brand new early buck only, archery only season. Regular archery begins the 28th. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

Well, the 4 days of rain, once again, dissipated and went around us. Going to hang my last stand for some November action and water the food plot today. We went from rain forest conditions at the beginning of summer to dry desert. I thought I was going to be hunting monkeys and toucans, now we’re sidewinder and hyenas.
in WI overnight, this guy showed up for the first time- these 2 little guys were locked up for at least 10 minutes for about 100 yards or so...not sure if they were able to free themselves. They were still pushing as they went out of camera. Here's when/where it started: pushed each other into the next frame There are half dozen more that I didn't post...this was the last one I got of them. They never broke apart for that 10 minutes
Damn boys, We've never had this many legit 150+ on cams this late in the summer. I get 2-3+ every other day. I wouldn't waste a prayer on getting to shoot a deer (altho I've prayed to recover a few after shooting them) but there's just something about this season that's got me revved up. I have a weird kind of faith feeling. I'm due to shoot a deer per my every other year cycle, but this year just feels like The Year.
yeah, but I would've been in that stand had my partner not bailed on this weekend. That would've been 15-20 yards, quartering away. And I shoot lefty.
They show you trail camera photos of bucks by your stand when you're not there as punishment for shoplifting in some countries. At least that's what I read on the Internet. There has been nothing exciting happening on any of my cameras lately. A couple of the older scrubby bucks that I'll shoot if they wander too close, but nothing I'm all that excited to chase. Seems like another season of going through the motions for the most part. The most exciting thing for me is my 12-year-old begging me to take him out of school early on October 1st so he can go hunting. It's strange how much I think (and worry) about whether I'm exposing my kids to hunting in the right way, at the right time, with the right amount of excitement, etc.
Our season opens on Saturday Sept 28th. My 13-year-old is asking me about going out opening morning every day. I love his enthusiasm. The only potential drawback I could foresee for your son would be the potential to be made fun of at school for hunting. I could be wrong, but the culture of Illinois does not seem as hunter friendly as Arkansas. Hopefully, your son does not have to deal with any of that nonsense.
Fortunately, my kid is the biggest, strongest, fastest kid in his class and can kick everyone's ass, so he shouldn't have any issue with that. He wears BHOD gear to school all the time and all of his friends know he hunts, so I don't think it's an issue. To be honest, I would be willing to bet most of them would like to learn how to shoot and hunt if given the opportunity. They all seem interested in it when they come over and see the dead animals hanging all over the place. Sometimes I feel like I'm failing as a hunter to introduce them to it in some way.
