Food plot germinated. Still haven’t had any rain. Got this setup rigged up and filled last night to water tonight. They say you can’t water a food plot enough to make a difference, but I’ve learned everything the hard way.
When the plants are small I have to imagine their water needs are pretty low, so any amount will certainly help! It's definitely better than doing nothing at all. Fortunately, we've had pretty consistent rains since I planted and my plots are looking good. I sprayed this one with some PlotBoost foliar fertilizer last weekend so I'm hoping that will give it a little shot in the arm. Not sure I'll hunt it much, but it's a great spot for my son to try and shoot his first one with a compound. We have does and young bucks using it just about every day now.
Bachelor group rolled through. This dude was the biggest. Also, food plot watering has been successful. 275 gallons of water = 6 beers.
I asked AI to generate a picture of a buck deer with 10 arrows stuck in it, this is what it gave me: (apparently AI can't count) PINCUSHION!!!! ...so it is written, so it shall be.
cold snap had them on their feet tonight in WI, whoowee! got this dandy 12 at 6:19p: then on the other side of the food plot at the exact same time, I got a couple fuzzy shots of this beast:
The neighbor on the adjoins property sent me these. May be the same buck in both and the same as the buck I got a pic of. My pic was to blurry to tell. Either way …..hell yes No
Solid bucks. My plots are in ok condition. We are in extreme drought conditions in SW PA. We get one solid day of rain every 7 days it seems with nothing in between. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Everything is very dry here too in new england. I dont have any slammers on cam yet this year. One decent one and a bunch of scrubs
Took my son out Saturday afternoon for the buck only early hunt. Other than a coyote, we got skunked. I went out again by myself and ran into more coyotes and no deer movement. Never had shot at the coyotes either day. On the plus side, Saturday morning we set up a third stand for my son to use. I am confident my oldest will kill a doe here probably on the opening morning of regular archery at the end of the month. There are three Red Oaks loaded with acorns with 25 yards of the tree the stand is in and multiple beds in the tall grass within 40 yards. We probably bumped deer out of this spot walking in based upon how fresh the beds looked and had a fawn come browse near us while we were working. It is one of the most reliable spots I know for killing does and bucks will be cruising it late October- mid November. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I spent some time at one of my local spots this weekend - prepped a new saddle tree and trimmed out another one that I hunt on East winds. I also put a few new cell cams out and fixed a couple others that coons had knocked over. At this point I'm calling it good until the season starts. If I can't kill a deer with what I have setup already, then I don't deserve to kill one.
this guy: just showed back up for the first time (confirmed at least) in almost a month: If I had to rank "target bucks", he's my #2. My stand:
I hope I keep getting pics like these in daylight this week, my buddy (his land) is leaning toward not hunting this (opening) weekend and these are making it hard for him to say no!
