Sorry dudes - stuck at work and then driving my daughter to cheerleading-related activities tonight. So no hunting for this guy.

My buddy took his 2 girls up to the 40 in WI this weekend for the youth gun hunt, they saw some slick tops and a small forkie, plus a "big one" at last light that was moving too quick for the youngster to attempt an ethical shot.

The new moon seems to have them on their feet at last daylight the past few evenings.

Going to take tomorrow to fall clean the house, yard, garage, and shed. That will clear the mind of the homefront, then come week after I disappear into the woods with my old man. I got Starlink last year so I will keep up with the Forum from camp in the evenings.

I'm taking my kid hunting when he gets off school tonight. Monday is usually the only day of the week when we don't have some sort of sports practice happening. Temps and other weather factors are all lining up for a good night. We hunted yesterday morning and saw a small eight point but he snuck it behind us and got downwind.

Tues, Weds, and Thurs are all football practice nights, so those are out of the question.

My wife is out of town from Friday to Monday this coming weekend, but I am going to find a way to get the boys out to our lease for a couple of sits. I'll have my little dude with me tagging along, so my only option is a double ladder stand on my little food plot. All of our corn is still standing so there are no blind options that work right now.

I doubt we'll see any shootable bucks there, but I would say we stand a great chance at shooting a doe, so that's going to be our goal.

is this the property where you have that old 300# deer you featured on Watering Hole?

...I would be obsessed about that thing.

No, that farm is here at home, and my lease is a couple of hours away in NW IL.

I probably won't have time to hunt the farm where that old deer is for at least a few weeks. TBH, he's the only mature buck in that place, so I probably won't devote too much of my time there. I have other spots with more deer and more bucks I want to shoot. Hopefully, my buddy Mike shoots him, or he just dies of old age already. I'll shoot him if he walks past me, but I don't have any real desire to go after him specifically.

I believe I’m going to take Monday/Tuesday off if the weather that’s predicted holds. Showing 57/34 Monday and 56/38 Tuesday. The farmers are hard at it picking the bottoms, and that usually seems to kick off some movement up and out of the bottoms to me. Hopefully after Monday and Tuesday, I’ll have a little more intel for when I can plan to Cobra Kai on some big buck movement.

The food plot is doing great, so that sets up a good back up plan for December if I can’t make something happen pre rut/rut.

you know your stuff and your land better than I, but you think maybe he's the main reason for that? What up-and-comer 3.5-4.5yo wants to get the crap kicked out of him by that freaking tank? He could easily kill a smaller (but still really nice) buck.

Perfect shot placement, congrats! I am left eye dominant/right handed as well. It doesn’t give me an issue with archery, but my pistol game sucks so bad. I’m better off throwing a pistol like a tomahawk at 20 yards I think.

I'm the opposite effect with the same problem. I am a retarded good pistol shot b/c it makes no difference which eye is dominant; just adjust my hand position/alignment. I have such a bad right eye I switched to shooting bows and long guns left handed.
