sorry you guys, I can't catch a break. Everytime I want too try and get out shedding, something comes up. I spent the night at the hospital with my wife last night due too early contractions in her pregnancy and being dialated. She has about 6 weeks to go yet, so the babies lungs won't be fully developed until she is 36 weeks along. Things are starting to go more in a positive direction, but was scary yesterday and last night. She will probably have to spend a couple more nights at the hospital, and will recieve her second shot of steroids for the babies lungs just in case the baby decides too come out. shedding is the least of my concerns right now, but I'll get back in the game one of these days. good luck everyone!
I hope everything turns out ok buddy. Dont worry we will find plenty of sheds on the road trip to iowa.....
Our thoughts are with you, Ryan. Family first, bro. You'll have all year to pick up sheds. Keep your wife happy and stock up on brownie points for November. In other news, I plucked one shed today, along with a little 4x4 deadhead. A real stud. ...and before you start wondering, I swear on a stack of bibles that this is a real whitetail shed. It's NOT a broken piece. That's the whole thing. 2.5" of pure muchismo whitetail madness. Shedometer = 17
hey it counts, thats all that matters. the smaller the shed the harder the find. good eyes on that one! I need some fresh air, so I'm gonna go hit a small 40+ acre spot this afternoon that I have never set foot on. It's a piece thats been for sale for along time, and I drive by it everyday too and from work. I got permission the other day too walk it, it is a good piece of land that has residential houses on both sides, not right on it but a short ways a way. I see deer in there alot, it's a big funnel area with some good bedding cover and a creek runs through it. hopefully I'll come up with something, I need some kind of luck on my side after what has happened the last couple days!
well covered as much of it as I could in about an hour and half and came up empty handed, oh well it felt good too get out and get some frsh air after being cooped up in the hospital for 2 days. My poor wife is still up there...
Best wishes Ryan. Being with her is more important then any antler. Here's to a safe and happy birth.
I only had 1.5 hrs today to get in a quick shed hunt. I told Dalton I had my eye on a spot that was public ground FWA area and that it was located in the corner of two major highways where the junction came together. I was comming home from the doctor today and thought man I bet nobody even thinks anything about that spot since its in a busy area. As soon as we walked in I was thinking man this looks good!! 15 minutes in to the hunt we were in a power line cut out and I was looking at the ridge above it, and told Dalton I thought on the other side was where I thought there was a standing corn field left for the wildlife. I went up the ridge and dam it was looking shedie. I yelled at Dalton to come up it looks good. He walked a little farther down the cut out loking for a place to come up the ridge when I seen him take off in a sprint and holler He had found another big shed in a weeks time. I smiled and said ill come down and see it. I get 30 ft from him, look down and walla I was almost standing on another We at first thought it was the same Buck but the more we look at them, the more we think its two different Bucks. His is very white, short tined and has a long beam. Mine is dark has a shorter beam and the tines are longer. Mine also has a wild looking palmented blade on the end of the beam. But anyway here they are. We will certainly give this place a good look soon when we have more time. Daltons Mine both together
I wanna thank everyone for their concerns, we appreciate it greatly. My wife is at home on bed rest now taking it easy...
Thanks Ryan and Dan,,,,Scott, guess im getting old, I ALWAYS get as they lay pics but just flat out forgot in the excitement
Danno, you stud you. I keep hauling in truckloads of dinks, while you're out sucking up all the big ones! Couldn't happen to a better guy. Congrats. Tell Dalton to keep up the good work, too!
Nice job, Dan! Bucks are still holding in my area, at least the ones I am getting pictures of. I have decided to not wait any longer. The weather is nice so I will be going on some walks soon. Maybe I'll kick them out of their beds and when they are running away their antlers will fall off? Who knows..
