Finally figured out how to post pic from my cell phone. Found this one in November right beside an active scrape. First one of the new season!
I'm hoping to hit a local park, I jog there almost daily and the deer are really yarded up in there. Last weekend I saw 5 buck, 3 were half racks already. I'm sure I'm not the only one eyeing up those bucks, so we'll see how it goes. Big snow coming tomorrow, not gonna find anything too soon.
Finally checking in, was out on a business trip. Found three so far, unfortunately my chip from my camera fell behind the dash of my truck. I left the sheds at my parents in Wisconsin so I'll post pictures as soon as possible. With the additional snow I think it will be slow from here until spring. Looks like we'll have a pretty competitive team! Paul
Thats an awesome find, Dan! I have found them by rubs but never by a scrape. Thanks Scott, that was a first for me! Im hoping to find that Buck in the upcomming season, He will be 2 years older then. Im trying to remember if I have ever found one beside a rub,,I dont think i have! Rybo, man if you can get in there early maby you will have a chance of beating out any competition,,,good luck guys! good deal purebowhunting, cant wait to see em!
I'm alive and checking in. whats going on fellas. looks like we have a great team and team captain, dan the man! I have a few new spots I'll be checking out this winter for some big sheds, so hopefully I can seal the deal!
Went out yesterday for about 3 hrs, found only a winter kill Doe. I usually dont find anything this early but always get out and try anyway. I may go later this evening again!
They should be falling for you Crick. I have never found this many in January but I am not complaining.
Picked a big one yesterday . . . 69". Pretty amped to see this big boy survive. He lives in an area where I can't really hunt, but he's a welcome addition to the gene pool. He's a 3 year old that's already pushing into the 150" range. Pictured above are 4 of his past six sheds. I'll find the match as soon as the snow melts. I got really lucky to find the one side, b/c it was laying in a shallow spot in the snow. As a 1.5 year old, he scored somewhere around 85" or so. At 2.5, he packed it on and grossed 125". Year 3, he blew up again, and now he's probably grossing just over 150" (he's a 4x5 this year, so his other side should come in around 65").
That's a nice shed, Fran. Three year olds that mess around in the 150s have the genes to go Boone the next year!
That is a stud of a buck! That's awesome to find multiple years of sheds from the same buck, having it be a monster is just icing on the cake! Good luck on the other side.
Danno - not sure whether I'll make it out this weekend or not. If I do, I'll be shed-scouting some new areas that I've never been in. I've got a couple public spots that look like they might be situated to hold some giant bucks, but I've gotta hike my ass in there and scope it out. A little snow cover wouldn't be a bad idea, then at least I'll know if/when I walk into a sheddy area. I can always come back later for a second swoop through the hotspots.
Well I had to put mine off today I had tires put on my sons truck and found out the idler arm and pitman arm were sloppy. I dont feel good about one of my kids driving with loose steering components SO, I laid under the truck today and changed them both out. I feel better now. NOW tomorrow its on, im free and gonna be out there. Fran I hope that new spot is killer for ya. Good luck everyone!
