My view is, you can't hunt from the couch. I get out when I can, even if that means windy days in the tree stand. Make sure your stand is secure and you have your harness on. If it's so windy that you don't feel safe, then obviously you don't want to go out. But 15 to 20 mph, deer will still move. Try and find a low area that might be sheltered from the wind a little bit - remember, you are 20 feet up in the tree, so the wind 20 feet up is a little more exaggerated than what it might actually be like on the ground for the deer. Two other things about the wind, I think it makes your scent a little more difficult for the deer to pick up and I think it allows you to move more in the stand without getting busted. A lot of things to like about a windy day in the tree stand. Granted some of those things make deer move less because they feel less secure, but let's be honest - they still move.

It hasn't stopped raining here since Wednesday night when I shot my deer. I like hunting in the wind and I agree with sycamore about scent dispersal and movement but anything higher than 20 I'm either on the couch or in a ground blind. I'm a big guy and it's unnerving when your tree/stand is swaying 2-3 ft back and forth. Good luck out there. Has everybody's season officially started?

Weather should be a lot cooler this weekend, hopefully it gets the bucks moving in the daylight.

Just added my buck to the official score page. He ended up scoring 111 3/4. That means I'm done for the contest, but keep at it guys! I'll keep checking in and rooting for all of you.

You can shoot a third deer, doe or buck, for an additional 50 points.

Sat twice now, Saturday night I seen two does and two fawns, tonight I saw 2 coons and a skunk. Took two shots at a coon but missed going for a head shot. Been seeing bucks chasing early in the morning on my way to work, pre-pre-rut may be starting here.

Well in that case consider me adding another 50 pts! I wasn't planning on stopping for the season just didn't know I could add more.

Geez I tell ya I work a couple weeks and get on here and my teams all confused. Lol hopefully ill get to hunt one of these days. Working non stop on harvest. I figured it up last week I worked 115 hours. On salary comes down to about 4.74 $ / hr and after the government takes there 90% I'm getting screwed

Shot a doe tonight. Shot was back a bit, got it on video - looked to be good enough, still not my best effort. Will hunt in the am and then hopefully recover her.

I've been spending all my free time chasing a smaller 8 pointer who I call "basket case". He walked by me 4 times yesterday, just wouldn't give me the shot. I'm in the stand waiting on him now, hope he comes out to play. [IMG]

I have better photos but I guess I didn't put them on my phone yet. I'll upload em later.
