Worked fine. I just saved it to my photobucket account (to keep), then saved it to my computer here at work. Cleared my former avatar, then chose this from the file on my computer.
Because I was tired and in a hurry when I made it. Close enough, and you never know...it's 2D...that arrow could have angled forward on exit :d .
Awesome Matt, if you guys hadn't figured it out, MGH_PA deserves the props for this. He let me bug the **** out of him for this. Thanks buddy.
I like that name! I didn't vote because I didn't really care what we were called. I'm itching to get out in the woods now that the IL deer and turkey classic has passed. A couple booths down from where I spent a majority of my time was a stand selling hand-made mouth diaphragms so I picked up a couple of them to try out this season because they sounded really good.
Sweet name and even sweeter graphic! My tag is late too, I wish I could find a place to hunt in the county north of me because there are a TON of tags left. I only have one potential spot and I'm going to ask permission this Friday, who knows maybe I'll get to hunt 2 weeks!
I'm quite a bit farther south than you but more central in Menard County in a pretty small town called Oakford. I don't know if you've ever been to Site M or "Jim Edgar Panther Creek Park" (such a mouthful) but I live pretty close to there. No one really knows where Oakford is because it's only got around 350 people or so in it so I always have to use landmarks and other things to try and describe where it's at. I was goin to offer to see if you'd want to hunt here but you're quite a ways away and you wouldn't be able to get any earlier permits because my dad applied for a second permit and was only going to be able to get a 4th season. Hard telling how late it would be now if you applied. I'm kinda wishing I would have applied for a second permit also so I could get one with shotgun just in case as well as one with bow.
Right! Well thanks for the thought anyways! Counties up here are hit and miss, because the turkey population is pretty sparatic. Whiteside county goes really quick. Actually just because youre a resident and get your permit in on time doesnt mean youre gonna get a tag. However, if you go one county north, you can STILL get a pretty early tag. I wont apply though unless I get my ground, I'll find out tomorrow night.
no luck! Im stuck with the 5th season Whiteside tag only. Hopefully we can make something of it. I'll be doing some scouting on 4 pieces of ground in the coming weeks. I'll keep everyone updated.
I have done scouting all over the second possible area to get a tag in. No luck. I have covered well over 300 acres, and only found one (literally) sign of a turkey. For an area that is posted to have over 200 surplus tags. That is horse hockey! But on the bright side, this past saturday, while scouting for signs, the wife, and I took our dog out, and got to wander the field edges without having him on a leash. That dude passed out for the whole ride home, he fell asleep 5 minutes after we got back to the Jeep. It was great! But really though, where would these mysterious birds be around late morning, early afternoon? I looked for everything I could think of. I wandered through the pines, Oaks, and all field edges. But to no avail. I am now looking at going down to the South East corner of the state. I really can not "scout" there, we really do not have the funding for the gas to go there too often. I wish I could afford to get an out of state tag for WI. I know I have property permission over there. And I know these people have a grip of birds on it. So, if I don't end up with one of the 7 left for the area that I have permission to hunt on. Then I will be heading to Whitewater, MN. Where the birds are aplenty, and so are the left over tags. :/
I got one!!! wooot!!! I stood in line behind 9 other people, and I managed to get one! Not the zone that I wanted, but I got one that should be productive if I play my cards right. If you know how our zones work, I will be in zone 344, for Season H (May 22 - 28). Thats the only bummer. I think I might have to run n gun, or run n bow them down, but I will over come this!!! Going to work now. Talk to you guys later.
Now I just need to learn some tricks for late season turkeys. I gotta get in their way from what it sounds like. I know the pressure down there is something fierce. I'm talking hundreds of hunters before me. Every day from the get go.
