Nice! I'm grinding and canning today, got all my backstraps cut and froze yesterday. [IMG]

first time signing in sense my last post. Read through our teams thread page by page. Congrats to you all who put some deer down and great buck you got there ZB!! It was fun reading through the posts in order not knowing what was waiting for me as the posts continued.

We got our ducks every morning during our trip out to north dakota. The weather was crazy and the ducks where loving it. All the waterfowl gear is tucked away for the year and right on time because we have had a couple really nice deer showing up on camera. cold front moving in this week Thursday and Friday that I am debating burning a sick day or two on. Then a little warm up over the weekend but Sunday and Monday are looking better. I am off work Sunday-Tuesday this coming week and looking forward to my first sit in the tree! Good luck to anyone getting out during the cold front this week!

That is one thing I’m afraid to get into, is duck or goose hunting. I use all my “wife points” on whitetail hunting.

You gotta get your wife into hunting then you’ll get a lot more time in the woods. :)

I don't have a wife to worry about yet but the migration always cuts me close to when I like to get in a tree. We go to north central North Dakota to try and catch the first wave of ducks moving down from Canada so that we can come back and get the gear all stowed by middle late October and get in the trees. Waterfowl hunting is a blast though. If you are able to make it work then I would say give it a try some day. They are fine eating birds as well.

I have too many hobbies to add duck hunting to the list. On top of the initial expense for me to take it on, it combines two things I despise: Cold and Wet. Screw that man y'all can keep it.

It's slot of steep hills and oaks and hickory everywhere. Been in stand every day. See deer driving around but have yet to see a deer in the stand lol. In stand right now. Nothing but squirrels. Weather here in Kentucky has also been all over the place.

Cool! Grew up hunting stuff like that. Not sure if the bucks are chasing yet there but if they are scout the heavy trails to see if you can locate intersecting trails as the bucks will start to check those paths. Get high especially in mornings but above all find fresh buck sign and then make a plan. Dont hunt an area with no fresh sign. It is infuriating. Lol. Good luck man. Check out whitetail habitat solutions guy on youtube or just google it. Awesome info on hill country hunting. Jeff Sturgis knows his stuff.

We had a thick layer of frost up here. Had one of our target bucks on camera out in daylight this morning and this evening. He walked right by one of our ground blinds this evening before sundown.. To any of you hunting the next couple days and over the weekend good luck! JGD, hope you made it to Kansas.

Throwing my gear in the truck and heading over for a couple days of sitting in a tree. I’m so pumped to finally climb into some stands. Been getting good frosts the last couple mornings and the deer have been loving it according to the trail cams. Lots of mid morning movement. Evenings have been okay with some good buck movement right around sunset. Shorter window of opportunity in the evenings but it’s been present. This evening I’ll be at it. Really excited for the next two mornings though!

These are the two I am after right now. There is also a couple random night time cruisers probably from the neighbors property have been showing up as well that I am not familiar. I would be tempted on at least 1 of those if they showed at 20 yards during daylight.. Hope to hear a Kansas update soon JGD!
