I am pooped. Set up 4 ladder stands and 6 cell camera's. Packed in 300 lb of corn to fill up 2 feeders. Filled the feeders last and I think after years of hunting this property these deer know the sound of corn being dumped into the feeders............lol. This doe walked by stand number 1 heading towards the feeder literally 10 minutes after I filled it (feeder is about 125 yards away from this stand). Amazing........

I checked all the stands. Had one strap break on me on my ladder while I was in it. Had my boy hold until I got down. And as I was climbing down a wasp stung me in my back. Apparently they were a a couple wasp nest in the rungs. All in all a good day

No deer this evening, had the neighbors show up with a chain saw 150 yards from me and cut for the last hour of daylight, they left so maybe I’ll see something in the morning I did get the feeder filled today and through out some white oak acorns that I raked up in the yard at home .

Activity at my three bait sites is slowly picking up. The white oak acorns are a better draw. I have two more sites to bait, but I'll wait for cooler weather. In the meantime, my nephew and I are heading to Sikaville this Friday morning (a big private parcel near the Blackwater Wildlife Refuge on MD's Eastern Shore). A cold front is coming this week and combined with the peak sika rut, we are hopeful!

How's it going guys? Sorry I've been a little MIA, last week was a busy one for me. I got married on Saturday, luckily I got a good one and we are waiting until February/March to do a honeymoon so I am all locked in for the season from here on out. Between today and tomorrow I'm going to go around and check cams to see what's been going on and hopefully get on a good buck during the first week or so of season.

Thanks guys! I myself said that I did not want to do it again but here we are lol.

Checked almost all of my cameras yesterday and I can't say I was totally disappointed but they weren't the best card pulls. Bucks are and definitely have been dispersing due to bachelor groups breaking up and food sources changing. I still have a few good bucks moving through my properties but it's pretty sporadic.

The big kicker is my main farm was hit pretty hard from EHD. It hasn't been totally killed off but from years past there is probably a 1/3 of the deer that we are used to. I will be very very picky on the deer that I shoot there, if I shoot any at all. I think that I'm going to try to sit there a couple times this early season on a big acorn flat just to try to get an idea of the deer that are still on the farm.

Grats on the marriage. Been a busy fall for myself. Probably won’t see the woods until oct 25th due to kids sports and a half marathon I’m running Oct 19th.

Have had some good activity on the cams just hoping my father in law doesn’t get the big ones before I get out.

I was able to tag a nice sika spike today. Although the blood looks impressive, the stag still made it 60yds.

And my nephew shot a nice sika hind (female) yesterday evening. She folded up after 35yds .

    Great eating ahead!

Heck yeah, that’s awesome! Congratulations to the both of you!

I know it doesn’t count towards anything but my freezer and confidence but I was able to take another doe this morning.

Thanks Johnny! Luckily she was close when she zigged instead of zagging. Couldn’t pass it up at 12-15 yards.

How's everyone doing? Anyone have updates on how their season is going, plans to hunt, and giants showing up?

Woke up this morning to the beautiful sound of rain coming down here in SW Michigan, the last rain that we got was September 20th I believe and it wasn't a whole hell of a lot. Luckily it's supposed to rain off and on until about 2:00-3:00 today while this cold front rolls in. The high temperature of 68* was at 4:00 this morning and will slowly drop throughout the day! I will be in a stand the next 3 evenings and I will probably only be shooting a buck if given the opportunity, but I do still have quite the itch so ya never know.

I know none of us are on our phones or near a computer all day every day, but as fun as this contest is, it is even more fun with an active team. Simple updates, check-ins, friendly jabs are all welcome, let's make this a great year fellas!

Good luck to anyone getting out today or in the next few days, hopefully this cold front that we're getting up north here also affects you guys, I know these temps early in the season have been absolutely brutal, just remember the best days of the season are right around the corner!

Raining here too, temps dropping but sadly have 2 more weeks til life slows down and I’ll be out. Only thing keeping me sane without hunting is our cameras have been pretty quiet. My father in law is heading out today I believe so I’ll have in woods update soon.
