I can guarantee that I can speak for almost every hunter when I say it’s happened to all my f us at least once! Good thing they were cell cams and you were able to figure it out before going down in a couple of weeks to cameras that were still shut off!

Got out yesterday to hang a stand on a small 8 acre permission piece. There are a few oaks that typically rain down acorns so I threw my Novix and harness in the truck to do a quick scout to check out those oaks, and again the acorns are loaded. Tracks and droppings everywhere and we're projected to have South variation winds so I hung the stand just north of the oaks. I plan on hunting both Saturday and Sunday morning in hopes to get a couple does in the freezer before the start of the actual season.

What's up guys, anything new going on? Has anyone been out, checked cams or anything?

Last thing that I've done is throw up my novix for this weekend. I will be hunting both Saturday and Sunday morning and maybe Saturday night depending on temperature and how Saturday morning goes. The last cameras I checked were either Monday or Tuesday afternoon and had some new bucks showing up, two shooters coming in pretty regularly. I will check cameras again next Monday or Tuesday and if they're still fairly regular in or near day light I will probably try to hunt them early.

In my 22 seasons I have never had one come even close to dying like this one did. IMG_1285.jpeg

I am planning on my first hunt to be next Wednesday. Right now the weather app shows a high of 67 for that day, I will continue shooting the bow this week and maybe try to crank it up to at least 62 lb. I got tied up with honey-do projects the last two weeks, I am trying to get all those chores done so I can hunt when ever I want. This Saturday I will head down to the farm to finally fix my camera's and fill up my feeders.

I got out Saturday to where I have had a ground blind set up with a bait pile. I had a big doe come into the bait, but she was quartering on as she fed for the duration. I passed up this shot opportunity as I prefer my arrow to exit the front shoulder vs the gut. (Having tracked several hundreds of deer in the past, I prefer easier tracks). Later I never got to see the buck, but I could see the tree he was rubbing waving back and forth. Nice to finally get into the woods guys!

Nice. Congrats on the doe. Way to get us on the board. Was she a pain to get out of the tree?

I had to work a little bit but not quite as hard as I thought I’d have to. It still just blows my mind how she was able to get in there.

Back pains are the worse. I have been so far behind. I have a 2014 dodge truck that began the hemi tick. Took it in and the lifters and cam shafts are shot. Looks like I will be putting a new engine it so I don’t have to hunt this year out of the family van. Just a kick in the but. I did end up checking a camer yesterday and got this one
