Does anyone have any suggestions for team name and team captain? When is everyone able to start hunting? I pulled a couple cards today and was a little disappointed, there’s a few good bucks maybe one shooter but I’d have to see him in person. There’s now 30 days until the opener so lots of time for bucks to show up, especially in on this particular property.
My season doesn’t open until October so still a month away. No ideas on a team name and I’ll go ahead and nominate you for team captain. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
October 1 here as well aside from an early doe season September 20-21. Got out yesterday and put in a full days work with the brother in law on our main farm we hunt together. Everything is all finished up there. Unfortunately we did find 3 bucks and 2 does that succumbed to EHD. We’re hoping it does not become an issue but only time will tell. Heres some pictures from the recent card pulls. As of right now on all of my farms there’s probably only 2-3 deer that I would shoot but need to see some in person to make the call.
Nothing above avg so far on my cameras. I've got several food plots (corn, clover, chicory, beans and soon brassicas) that attract does, and the big guys know where to look for the does come rut... -fsh
As promised here is the story of my three year hiatus. March 2022................got the COVID real bad. Come hunting season I still felt like crap and knew I could not hunt. (strength and energy level super low). September 2023........got the COVID again and this time it darn near killed me. (Yes I did get the vaccine in November of 2022, lot of good that did me). May 2024 diagnosed with rectal/colon cancer. Then June 2023 diagnosed with Melanoma Sarcoma cancer, small spot on my neck. Lot's of radiation and chemotherapy treatments during the summer and early fall of 2024. This was a tough battle, luckily The radiation did it's job and killed the cancer so far. No surgery was needed, spent the last year or so trying to get my strength back. Edit : I almost forget the last medical issue. November 2024 Aortic Aneurysm repair. This actually was not the bad, they use a scope with two small cuts in your groin area to install a plastic reinforced artery connector. What suck the most was laying in the hospital bed for two days looking out the window wishing I was out hunting the rut. As of this morning I cranked the bow "Mathew Triax" up to 62lbs. and can easily pull and hold on target. Been shooting this summer with a 40 to 50lb. then a 50 to 60lb. bow along with weight lifting to get my strength back. Anyways, I am good and ready to hunt. It has been a long road back to get in the woods, really looking forward to just sitting in a stand. V/r Dave
