Got a few pictures of this big 8 pt. and a smaller 6.Hope the big 8 starts coming around in the daylight hours in the not to distant future.
Very nice! From the sounds of it, my crossbow permit should be in by next friday, but knowing our DNR it could be two weeks yet. Been doing some scouting tho and I think I've got a few good ambush points. I should be able to get 50 points within the first couple days
50 more points on the board for the Heartstoppers!! Doubled on does this morning in my doe killing stand. I only took a pic of the bigger one and it's posted in the scorecard thread. I took the smaller of the two first at 7:00 am and while I was giving her some time the bigger one walked right under me. I saw 25 this morning. Man, we're crawling with deer here.
Thats great!!!! congrats on the kills. Im dying to get back to the states and help add some points for the team.
You're right. It is a rush, but the rush wears off a bit when you realize that you have two deer to process and since it's warm it has to be done ASAP. I doubled once before year before last not 50 yards from where I was hunting yesterday. The cool thing about the last one was that my 14 year old daughter was in a ladder stand 40 yards away. I've always regretting not having her bring the camcorder.
Agreed no doubt. Luckily I did it in November when it was cold, but my knife got dull after I gut the first one... second one was far less pleasant. After that I always bring the knife sharpener with me
Opening day is this Friday!!!!! Looks like we are getting our first frost here in Michigan this weekend too. High temp on Sunday is only 56.. great weather to start the season.
That sounds like great weather for an opening weekend. Good luck, and let us know if you put anything on the ground!
Got some help lined up to help me move and adjust some ladder stands tonight... As long as things go well, should be able to make it out a little bit this weekend...
Well only 26 days until my plane touches down in the states. I cannot wait to get back. Spoke to my dad a few days ago and they seen about 25 deer on Sunday. Good luck to the guys whose season is opening up this weekend.
Gotta love October 1st!!! Opening day here in Michigan and man was it a good one...The temp was awesome, stayed around 40 degrees. At daylight I caught some movement off to my right. Watched two nice 1.5's spar for about 10 minutes. They then walked about ten yards out and I was so tempted to shoot one but last year I told myself I wouldn't shoot anything under 2.5. It paid off last year for me so I'm sticking to it. This guy looked right at me and just slowly turned around and walked the way he came in. He left his buddy hanging haha. About a half hour later I catch movement behind me. The nannys are rolling through! I set up perfect on the lead doe but shes moving along well and I need to stop her before she exits my lane, I give her a mouth bleat and let it fly. Hit her a little further back then I wanted too but the 350grain Maxima hunter sporting a 100gr Thunderhead flew through her like butter. The arrow has blood all the way down and there is decen't blood not far from impact. Its been about 2 hours now and I'm going to go back and start tracking. Wish me luck!!! -SH
Not looking good fellas, I can't find her. Tracked about 150 yards and am having and couldn't find any more blood. Had to grab some chow , going back to look some more..... im bummed... never hit one and not recovered it before.
