That's a great hunt and fun evening for sure. Sounds like you will get more opportunities there. Last time I was in Scheel's, there was a guy in there with a brand new Ravin that had a bent cam and broken limb from making the very same mistake. It's pretty easy to do when focused in a scope and downrange.
Hitting the woods in WI this Saturday, prob wait until afternoon as the AM supposed to be rainy and very windy.
well rained out today and tomorrow. will get to sit Sunday morning, so fingers crossed we get activity after all this rain. Sat last weekend with minimum movement in range. saw a couple shooters, but they were 300 yards on the other side of neighbors beans.
Rain today. Not going to go hunting. Will not make it out tomorrow either. Probably get back out a few times during the week if the weather looks good. Waiting on a buck now.
I'm LFTS. Bumped a small buck and doe 2 fawns bedded about 50yds from stand/food plot. Bouncing over to the LFTS thread for now
Well Fellas, I didn’t get our team any points this weekend but sure made a great memory helping my 12 y/o son shoot his first buck with a crossbow.. He was over the moon excited. Now it will be go time for me to try and get one.
That is absolutely awesome! The smile on his face says it all. Congrats to him!! Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
What a deer!!!! Great job and congratulations to you and your little man. That smile of his says it all.
Well, I had to go work nights this weekend so no hunting for me. I've got some errands to run today so it'll probably be tomorrow before I get back in the woods. The bucks have been moving through my areas pretty good so hopefully it won't be long and I'll have us some points.
This is awesome. I will never forget my boys' first deer. I was probably more excited than they were. lol.
I finally just put out a couple of video cameras this morning before work. One is on a mock rub tree that is getting shredded and the other is on a big scrape. If a shooter shows himself during daylight, I will start hunting.
Not mine, but my brother connected on one of our bigger bucks we have on camera last night at just after 5 pm. Hit it a little far back and the deer acted funny. Didn’t really run and walked about 75 yards and bedded down. I told him likely a liver shot so we left him overnight and found him right where he bedded. Stiff as a board so he’d been dead for a while, but better safe than sorry. Deer was slightly quartering away and arrow went in mid body. Upon gutting the deer, he got liver and backside lung but the broadhead ended up stuck toward the top of the back so it did a little weird ricocheting in the cavity. When in doubt, back out.
Hey @dnoodles your buck you were keeping in your pen for the contest got out! It ran into a local Noodles and Company restaurant. Like..... literally ran into the store. Of course I'm kidding about dnoodles and the pen but this legit happened just 15 minutes from me today. Hormones had this 8 point doing crazy things. Good luck guys!
Anybody doing any good? Here in Oklahoma the bucks are starting to cruise around and some chasing going on in little pockets. We have a cold front rolling through right now and it's bringing a lot of rain with it. I'm not sure If I'll get to go out this weekend or not, depends on how hard it is raining. This past week and half the deer movement as been really low and all at night in my areas. It's just been tough but it's about to get better.
