unfortunately, yes. I have a couple that only hold 3 but that is clearly not enough for me.

    'Sconnie, baby.
I've got about 7-8 different bucks on cams in August that will all go 140+. with 2-3 over 150.
Problem is our property tends to be a bachelor pad during the summer and then only cruisers in the fall. We just don't hold many does to bring the bucks in.

I am hoping that adding water this year will be the golden ticket.

I have had excellent luck with putting in mock scrapes and mock rub trees on properties like that. I like the Buck Fever synthetic scent. It lasts for a very long time and I have used it from the same bottle for carryover years. Look up Shed's old post on mock scrapes if you have never read it. You honestly can condition the bucks to come check out your sites. It's not too late to get them going for this year in my opinion. I am going to put some in this weekend. Water is also a fantastic attractant, especially on a dry year.

This team has some great opportunities out there!

I spent the evening doing some mowing and prepping some plots on the cabin property. Very late, but just not enough hours in the week to get everything done in my life right now. Starting a new business, a house remodel, office remodel and dealing with aging parents has our hands full. The cooler temps and a recent rain has me pushing to get some seed in the ground by this weekend and get some cameras up. I did take a minute to enjoy the sunset with a sip of whiskey and a rocking chair. Old man stuff. All in all, life is damn good.

we're heading up this Sunday afternoon for a quick PM and then AM sit, then filling the water troughs and putting a last seed bed down in one of our bare spots that used to be a plot. Kind of a spray and pray on that one.

Will definitely mock up some scrapes, too. Prob a horizontal rub post also.

Normally I don’t hunt opening weekend, but might have to. He’s been in the plot the past two nights.

Locked n knocked for the evening hunt. Might be my first opening day sit ever. Normally I’m taking the kids on the youth duck hunt or at some sporting event, but decided to take advantage of having none of those. My 13 year old decided he didn’t want to duck hunt this AM as he had a big wiffle ball tourney to get ready for today. Rain showers in the area so sitting in a ground blind. I’ve seen one doe so far. Cell cam on the other side of the property caught a decent buck at 3:30 and some doe and fawn out. Rained for a bit but now has stopped for the time being. Big buck only tonight. Don’t feel like dealing with a doe tonight. Have had 2 pretty regulars in the past week. One is borderline for me. Have to see him on the hoof, but think he’s only 3 years old.

    Fingers crossed. You never know!

STC_0093.jpeg STC_0217.jpeg Minnesota season opened yesterday. Was able to get stands hung for my son and I. There were acorns raining down on us as we set up so hopefully we will get an early season shot at a nice buck before they all get eaten. I got some bad news this past week though when I found out the urban property I’ve hunted the last 10 years is being sold At $2.1 M I’m hoping it takes a long time to sell and that I have at least this season to hunt it before new owners move in. Good luck to everyone already hunting. This is the best buck I have on camera so far. Still hoping the big boy I have pictures from last year shows up soon.

Last night was ok. Saw 7 doe and a 2 year old 8. Sat again tonight. Had 3 bucks come past me right toward shooting hours. Just not quite what I’m looking for. 2 8s and a 10 traveling together. Went by me at 25 yards. Saw a couple other doe/fawns earlier. I got pics of these bucks before they came past me. The 10 was decent but needs another year or two. Good sit nonetheless. Two of the bucks were sparring IMG_3465.png a bit. One of those still crisp nights that make me love fall. IMG_3461.jpeg IMG_3460.jpeg IMG_3463.jpeg IMG_3464.jpeg

I didn't have any action this Sunday AM but the neighbor sent us a 0840 pic of 3 bucks together, one was easy 150+ and one of the others was 140+. So they were still bached up and moving in daylight.

We were doing a lot of property work Saturday so I didn't expect to see much; and I didn't :/
