I guess you got me there. :busted: We are definitely blessed with low hunting pressure compared to a lot of areas. It was insanely low prior to the days of hunting videos and then hunting shows. I am still in shock at how many people have moved to this area just because of the deer herd. On the bright side, it made me a lot of $$ in land! We are so lucky that our DNR continues to keep a tight grip on tags and manages the herd for trophy potential. When you finally draw a tag, you will seldom be disappointed.

Been busy up on the lease the past couple of days. Got the cameras out and access trails cleaned up. Fought off some red wasp and gathered up some ticks. Almost ready for opening day except for setting up the blinds. I was gonna do that this weekend but we're so dry here, the ground is super hard and the stakes just would not go in. We have a crap ton of wild hogs on the lease again so I'm looking forward to hunting them. I'm trying to get motivated and excited but that is hard to do when its 9000 degrees outside.

Me, I’m on team little Debbie… I’m the type of person that will pack a lunch and then eat said lunch 5 minutes into a hunt. Good luck this evening!

got an emergency late season plot in the ground in central 'Sconnie, drove a well point down 25', got a gas pump and sprinkler system laid out, so we should have a good late season food source. Neighbor is going to come around and fill/run the pump every 3 days.

Heading back up this weekend to do a quick Sunday AM and PM sit, in between those move a couple stands, and hang some cams. I prob won't be back in WI until late October/early November after that.

Good luck to you guys already hunting.

Alrighty y'all, the buck nest woke up yesterday. I have several bucks in the area here at the house and 2 of them are for sure shooters for me. I have this wide main frame 8, as of now, he's the main target. SYFW0042.JPG Next, I have another 8 with a little more mass and taller tines but not near as wide. SYFW0052.JPG This is my hit list as of right now. Around October 10th is when the bucks normally move in up on my lease, If something shows up that sparks my interest I'll focus more up there. Right now, just to many wild hogs up there.

Hey gents! Sorry I haven’t been too active on the thread yet. My name is Aaron and I am 42 years old. I hunt on 130 and 75 acres of private land in WI. Our land is mostly WRP but always holds a lot of deer. I should be good for 50 points minimum and have a good shot at a nice buck, but I’m at the stage in my hunting career where I generally pass on most bucks under 130”. I have two boys, 16 & 13 that gun hunt so I pass a lot of 3.5 year olds for them and my father in law. I haven’t shot a buck since 2017 so my standards might drop a little.

As far as season prep goes, I’m mostly ready to go. My food plots are just so so as we’ve been dealing with drought in WI most of the year, but have a fair amount of food in them. Tried to overseed oats but might have to do that again since we haven’t had much rain the past two weeks since I did it.

I am in the busiest time of my life with work and kids activities, but I do live right by my land so should still be able to get out a fair amount. I won’t hunt a ton early season, but will try and get a doe down early.

Looking forward to doing the contest with everyone!

This is from the neighbor but we have him on our cam in velvet about a month ago. They're in a avi format that won't load on this phone I'll have to snip from laptop later.

    I'm thinking 165

I’m not sure what he will score bud, but that’s a great buck to be chasing. I hope you get him.

Thanks brother. We keep getting pics like this where his left side is partially obscured but we're pretty sure that side G2 is a big split and he's got 5 typical on that side+ the non typical split.

If he matched side x side he's probably pushing 175.

Either way I'm sending an arrow or 5 if he gives me the chance.
