Have finally started to see some rub and scrape activity late last week. Yesterday morning I saw about 12 does and 3 bucks. The does were very skittish and the bucks were seeking and checking the does out. Still have not seen the one I am after but hopefully he will show this week. The weather is changing and the time is getting right. Good luck to all this coming week.

Foggy morning exactly like same day last season I killed my buck. Might even be same date. In a corner hedgerow stand about 80 yards from same spot I stalked him in CRP. Had a group of 4 does get chased out of corn by a nice 8-10 that would absolutely get stuck if he had been close enough. Maybe 60 yards into the CRP. Alas one of the does skylined me and headed back into the corn. He never saw me but followed suit. I'd be better off of the ground! SMH

Hey all.. it's been a few since I've logged in, but like most, my arse is busy hunting! I'm sorry to report that my #1 was killed by the neighbor on Sunday night.. kind of a bummer, but congrats to him. He's a good dude. I took today off to regroup and do some laundry and gear adjustments, but I'm right back at it tomorrow. I'm gonna try some totally new areas tomorrow and possibly over the next few days.. Might head back to the cabin on Thursday, if I don't score or get driven out of this high pressured mess.. It's tough to get motivated to go back to ground zero when target is gone and the gap between your #1 and #2 hit listers has a pretty big gap.. but theres a really old, super wide 6 point that I wouldn't mind slapping a tag on.. he's probably barely a P&Y buck, but he's giant and older than dirt.. we'll see what how it all plays out. Good luck yall!!

    YESSSSS!!! great job, Holt!
I had ANOTHER bad luck break...doe pegged me in the stand as I drew. She ducked it and I got some hair. Second time I have grazed a doe (same stand; might be same deer.) I got her on camera right before the shot and she came back through a few hours later so I know she's still running around.

I'll be back up this weekend thru the Nov. 15 gun opener.

I will write up a short story of the hunt tonight when I get home from work. Not much to it, but a fun hunt!

Already entered him, he went 106 and some change. My goal was something over 100" so he will do!

that's great dude. I was really thinking 110 but was hoping to squeeze another couple inches out of him for you!
Either way a nice buck and you're still 106" ahead of me! I need to pull my head out of my butt and put one on the ground. I got another very nice one on camera the other night @ 1am. Perfect 10, I'll post pic tonight.

Today was an interesting day in the stand. Been kinda horrible weather for sitting in a stand the last couple of days. Rain Monday and Tuesday I spent the mornings and evenings there. Really windy on Tuesday with the front moving through so I didn't see a lot of deer activity. This morning still forecast for misty rain and some wind but I thought I would try it anyway. Put rainsuit back on and got on stand a little later than normal but still 45 minutes before shooting light due to the cloudiness. Within 10 minutes I heard a grunt behind me and a few minutes after that I see a dark shape moving under the stand. As he turns his head I can tell he is a decent buck but cannot make a positive determination. Some does follow him and after a few minutes and it is getting lighter another grunt behind me sounds then another buck appears. It was apparent that the 1st buck was tending a doe and kept the other buck away from the does. The does mill about then head down the trail with the 1st buck in tow. Never got to see him with enough light to make a good judgement if he was a shooter or not. The second buck is a regular at the stand and is a very nice 2.5 year old 8 point that with another 2-3 years should be a great buck that I have nicknamed blondie because he has a very distinctive nearly blond patch of hair on his forehead. Through the morning I had about 24 does come through and 3 bucks. I think my buck to doe ratio is way off. Sat the same stand this evening and had 7 - 8 does and another 3 bucks come in but no shooters. Just an update on my last few days.

Sounds like some good encounters and your in the right place! Do you bring binos with you? I use mine in the darkness in the morning when deer are passing by. It works pretty good and usually can make enough to tell what buck it is.

Nice buck, Jordan. You are getting a lot of practice with taking hero shots.

I didn't this morning because it was raining and I didn't want to get my pack wet then spend the day drying out all the contents which is a pain so I just put my rangefinder, grunt tube, bleat can and light in my rainsuit pockets and hit the stand. I agree you can get about 10 more minutes with binocs than eyes.

    Awesome job Holt and Jordan!!!
Wish I could help rack the score up, but my neighbors have done it yet again... This was my other top hit lister. I'm really happy for these guys, but man... there were only 3 bucks on my list, and now the top 2 are dead and the third is MIA... not real sure where to go from here, but I guess I'll keep grinding and pray that a traveling buck comes through my area while the does are still hot... fingers crossed!
