Good call, it's a way nature is testing you. Haha, Now hopefully you will be rewarded with the deer your after. It's a tough thing to do and your probably already second guessing your self, it will be worth it!

yeah, what is up with that lately? In 4 seasons of hunting WI I don't think I've ever seen sustained ENE winds before; and they've been out of that direction almost every sit I've had this year.

It seems like it was the same last year also so this year I set a stand just for those E winds. It's getting plenty of use! The deer don't seem to want to move as much with those winds. I've only seen one basket 8 from that stand so far. Hope it will be good tonight before the storm rolls in.

I've had one sit so far opening evening had 5 does within range, but it was warm and I had to work early next morning. Good news is the stand I whose on the Oak ridge was dropping white and red acorns like crazy. I'm leaving the does as rutting bait for now. Weather this weekend is hot and thunderstorms coming. Probably going to sit it out and wait for a good cold front to push through. Come on cold weather. I will say that I noticed with a late afternoon/evening moon underfoot the deer were out yesterday. Probably should have been in the stand, but I took my wife on a date instead...hope that pays off late October and early November. Congrats to Boonerville on a great buck and Good luck to the rest of you guys.

I'm hunting on a different property tonight. Check camera since I was down here, had a good surprise! I big 8 pt I got pics of in the summer has showed up a few times in the last month all during day time. I will post pics tonight. I also had the little piebald show a few times on same camera, hopping it makes it a few years.

Well I messed up on a doe tonight. Had 2 come in right at last light, directly behind me. I aimed low for heart shot and gave her a hair cut on her belly. Not how I wanted to start the season. Same thing happen to me last year. I feel good that I didn't injury the doe and I will get a chance again.

I was hoping this buck was still around. Good to see he is and to get a pics with hard horned. This 8 pt I believe is a 4 1/2 year old. Had pics of him from last year. Then I also had a couple youngsters show up that look great too! EK001282.JPG EK001530.JPG

Live from the blind. I'm actually getting signal.
Got into camp later than I wanted yesterday so didn't hang any stands. This morning threw my turkey blind up on a small hillside overlooking a trail hub. Had a basket something run they this AM prior to legal light. Wouldn't have shot him anyway but I would've had my wife take him for her first. Got winded by a nanny doe. Rained yesterday so they are silent walking thru this morning. Gonna pack it in and be out about 1pm to hang and hunt.

Same general area as this AM. Got a double hang on stands set up and then my wife decided to take nap instead so I'm flying solo. Great little bottle neck between a CRP and dirt road on the high side to the N and a mucky bottom land transitioning to a 15' w 3' deep river with swamp on other side of that. Looks like a deer superhighway. I'm parked in a 4 trunked maple tree. wish it was 50° instead of 75° but life is good 15074984277371005100982.jpg

Also got a nice surprise- real nice buck on video 2x. Once with another buck (older looking 7-9 point?) On Sept 28 and another time solo on Sept 30. Both nocturnal but not surprising this time of year. Post the vids when I get back to civilization

Wish he was a doe, I'd anchor it to the ground.

Cute and all but I can barely move if another comes in

Just watch him, he will tell you if another deer is coming before you will see it.

That's what I ended up doing. He finally got up and walked away but not before coming to bottom of my tree and eating fresh cut maple twigs dropped by yours truly when I was hanging these.

I could literally barely move for almost half hour and I was standing backwards in the stand.

Good video tho, I'll try post later
