Good luck, gents! It all starts tomorrow here... I don't do mornings until the last few days of October, but I'll be on doe patrol tomorrow evening... in an unfamiliar, insanely high-pressured area lol. Fingers crossed. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
On some public for the first afternoon. Don’t usually hunt mornings unless it’s a really good wind. Today was not that day. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Back at it again. I was helping the land owner farmer get his beans off for the last couple days so no hunting but today I'm out. I saw a nice shooter last night out here that I haven't seen before. I was in the combine and he was about 100 yards away laughing at me. I hope to meet up with him tonight. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Nice!! Congrats flyguy!! I got out for the opener this afternoon, but so did everyone else... There were 5 vehicles parked at my target spot.... yes, FIVE!!! Ugh... Three spots later, I finally found a place to park. It was all good, until some idiot drove his truck up the access trail (highly illegal) and parked 60 yards from me. Oh well.... life on public land. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
Went out yesterday morning and evening to see what was going on in a stand that I had high hopes for this year. Hard to get into this stand in the morning as usually deer all around the grassy areas and you absolutely cannot access without being exposed somewhere. Got into the stand ok about 45 minutes before daylight and settle in. It was a wonderful morning with temps about 47 or 48 and clear skies so just after daylight the deer start filtering out of the grass and clover to migrate into the timber and start funneling by the stand. I saw about 15 does of which 8 were mature does and the rest fawns and 1 basket rack 6 pointer which would have been an 8 if he had brow tines. That concluded my morning so I went back about 4:30 and about 6:30 the same progression started happening in reverse. Saw about 9 does last night. 6 were coming through at one time just before dark when a bear appeared and it was like you dropped a bomb around the does----gone. So that concluded my first sit. It was a great day and I could have taken multiple does but I like to wait til cold weather. Going to church today so no hunting for me but will sit Monday evening after work. Hope everyone else has a great day. Sent from my iPad using Bowhunting.com Forums
Congrats flyguy on getting the team started! I went on trip yesterday to the eastern shore to chase sika deer. Went into public land blind, never been there nor have I hunted sika. It was a blast, ended up hearing bugles all around, even in the dark right at the truck while I was getting changed. I ended up having one spike stag come in, but just to far for a shot. These things are going to be very addictive, and can't wait to get back out there.
We’re headed back on Saturday, may try the other spot. Addictive is putting it lightly. I don’t care if I kill a whitetail this year, I will kill one of those little bugling deer.
Haha, I've been looking over maps all morning. That other spot looks really good. Also should check out that second entrance on next road over. Much more direct route to that marsh.
Morning hunt was eventful. Saw 7 in an hour and a half hunt before church. 5 does and 2 2 year old 8 pointers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
