I would love to have an aero hunter. Now I'm using trophy line tree saddle and love that. Aero hunter looks so much nicer. Less bulky. Love saddle hunting !!! Been doing it solely for past 10 years. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It's down to a frigid 79 degrees here in in Wisconsin today so I thought I would give hunting a try. Seems weird that it's 10 days into the season but only 3rd time out. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Good luck tonight. I'm in the stand also, it was in the mid 80s when I walked in. I'm sitting a oak Ridge with raining acorns. The only thing there is more of on the ground is deer poop.
Good luck to you too. Sounds like a good spot to be. I'm sitting with my back to a pond, surrounded by a bean field that is 45 yards from a marsh. Just had a little sprinkle that I thought would get them moving but nothing yet. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Got a nice little 8 pt at 32 yards eating acorns. Getting a pass tonight, waiting for something bigger!
I'm going to scout and hang a couple stands on public in SW Michigan tomorrow...Sunday can't get here soon enough! The wife is all dialed in on her new Mathews Jewel. I'm hoping we drop a couple does or even better she gets a nice little buck.
Good luck man! Somebody needs to break the seal for the team. I feel like my next sit I will connect on a deer, I just don't know when that will be.
I shot my bow for 1 1/2 hours last night. I'm shooting darts out to 60 yds. Got new Nockturnals on my arrows, new broadheads on, I'm ready!
It starts Sunday. The weather and wind are terrible the first couple days of the season. Looks like I wont be going after him until Tuesday or Wednesday at the earliest. Supposed to be raining and warm the first 2 days of my season. I'm not going to complain...my food plots need the rain.
grumble grumble Ended up having to work today so no scouting expedition. Probably manana. I might pick up a kayak, it looks like I can access the deepest part of the parcel via a small river and cut off over a mile of walking. Hopefully nobody else thinks to do the same. I hunted the field edge late last season but did not get a chance to go deep. Looking at the overheads it looks to me that there's a swamp in the deepest part. Looooove me some public land swamps.
Amen, Brofessor! I'll be hunting slightly offset of being between 2 swamps on Saturday. There's a cornfield about a quarter mile to the east. Wind & temps should be perfect, as long as the forecast holds. Sent from my SM-N915V using Tapatalk
I'll be out Sunday afternoon...should be cooler. I'm debating stand choice oak ridge vs food plot. White oaks we're dropping like crazy beginning of September but sometimes they are done by October 1st. Food plot has been consistently inconsistent no real pattern to bucks. Wind is good for both stands. Might come down to a coin toss or I may go arrow a doe in the plot then leave it alone for a month.
I may not be out for a while...Weather is awful for the first week of the season. Sunday/monday rain and 80 degrees. Tuesday/Wednesday 82 degrees and chance of thunderstorms.
Except for mosquitos; I love to hunt right after a thunderstorm. Maybe you'll get lucky and the storms break before dusk
I vote oaks. I have about 50 acres of beans and the last few sits I have not seen a deer in them during day light. Last sit I went to a oak flat and saw around a dozen deer. This train started about 1 1/2 hours before dark.
I'm leaning oaks also...I pulled foodplot cards and target bucks are there but nocturnal. Even if the white oaks are done there's a bunch of red and black oak on the same ridge that maybe starting. Here's a few pics of my #1
Season starts tomorrow morning and I am going to be out there. Did get some encouraging news this week as one of our target bucks was spotted about 80 yards from one of our stands in a grassy field running two other bucks out of the field. Pretty aggressive behavior for this early in my opinion but at least he made it through the EHD. Weather supposed to be great, north wind (which most of my stands are set up for) cool temps in the lower 40's in the morning and a high of 65. We shall see what happens. Got my gear all prepared so ready to get the obsession started.
Almost time! I am going to try my best to do live streams to facebook from the stand this year. Hopefully I can get some awesome footage.
Season starts Sunday for me boys. Gonna head out mostly to get cabin ready for the season and tidy up some stuff but I will be sitting on our main plots for observation at evenings. Something really big will have to come out to get an arrow. Good luck guys!!!
