Yeah, well if we lose by less than 50 points you'll alllll be like- "if only DN had shot that darn doe in his skivvies...." BTW, scheize just got real
Just checked cams before leaving the farm I have all the originals aswell on my computer all the dates and times are wrong due to the camera is broken and that function doesn't work anymore Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Out in the stand for the first hunt of the season. Saw my first doe within 30 minutes. Just looked up and a big yote is out in front of me about 250 yards away. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sure it's not a wolf? We got more wolves than yotes here in Adams Co. Nothing moving here yet today. Surprised not on their feet yet after last night/this morning's storm. Still got a good feeling though. If a doe walks by you guys are safe today but she's not... It's only 62° so I'm wearing pants.
No it was a yote. Big one. I'm wearing pants too. It's 68 here. Not much rain this morning though. Ain't nobody would wanna see me without pants. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Got a couple nice one out but they're about 225 yards away in the marsh tearing up the red willows. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I'll be back out tomorrow afternoon. Mornings are not very good till mid October so just afternoons till then.
Put a few miles on the boots today... lots of small - medium bucks on the cams. Not much to write home about yet, but I'm keepin the faith! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Had a nice 115-125" 10 point broadside at 60 yards for 10 minutes tonight. Not gonna lie I was tempted as I was using my elk rig which I am completely confident in out to 80. But whitetails are just too squirrelly for me to try at that distance. Plus I really am trying to make this the year I shoot my first "trophy" 130+ deer. There was a bigger buck another 25-50 yards beyond him that I never got a real good look at but he was a shooter all day every day. Not sure how may points but he had 2x the mass the 10 had. Also had a forkie and a goofy 5 point (3 on one side go straight up) that I'll post pics of later running around my stand playing grabass. Not sure if they smelled the EverCalm or the (new) Thermacell but they had their noses in the air and seemed to look right at me several time but never spooked. I'll post pics manana.
So far this AM I've had the same 2 young bucks at 50yds plus a 12" spike @ 10 yds. Starting to cloud up hopefully keeps them on their feet. Weird E/SE winds most of the weekend. I've never had winds this direction up here before, makes the hunting different for sure. Gonna hit the road for home by 11am unless I got one. Even if I don't kill one what a great Opening Weekend.
That first 8 is a great looking deer. I just love a big 8. Good luck with getting one of them on the ground.
Alright guys I'm back on stand tonight, just looking for a doe. I'm just off wind of a bedding area and I got 2 bean fields behind me, one I can't hunt. The fields are to far for a shot. I'm hoping a couple does stage up here before heading to beans at dark. Let's see what happens!
Ok so I'm on a new farm (got the hunting rights last year but never hunted here) in a new stand ( hung it up and trimmed it last year but never hunted out of it), with a new bow ( carbon Defiant 34) hoping for a big ol doe to step out so I can put this Hoyt to work. I'm home, empty handed but whole hearted. Definitely the most action I've ever seen on an Opener. Learned a lot about how they're moving through the property this year which seems to change a lot year to year. I'll post more pics later today. Best of luck to everyone in the stand.
