keep at it. one of the days they will come in.

 

Well I'm all set up in the blind, but not off to a good start. Some how I forgot my release, I always keep it strapped to my bow case, but I shot the other day then checked over my bow, release kept getting in my way so I took it off and laid it on the end table, apparently I forgot to strap it back to my case. I practice with fingers also, so it's not too big a deal for me.....

Get to the farm and getting things loaded up in my sled, owls are hooting all over the place, not one gobble.....damn.....

Setting up my blind, my top hub of my blind falls out of the slots, so I put it back and start to pop up the top, my middle finger gets pinched in the hub, now have a nice blood blister....and still not gobbles.....

Last but not least, supposed to start raining/thunderstorms aroun 10-11.....so needs to happen early if it is gonna happen...

 

Heard a gobble, on the neighbors property.....but it's a start at least

 

Had a similar morning morning today as well, little to no gobbling, so much fog that just wouldn't go away, farmer drove out into field at 730 am lol

Let's hope the next hour or two is better before the rain

It was a little foggy here as well but it burned off pretty quickly. Had one hen mosey by about an hour or so ago, she was a tight lipped bird and didn't stick around long. Just heard the one gobble at first light, nothing since. 2nd year in a row this property has let me down. The rain has been pushed back to this afternoon so says the weather channel, so gonna stick it out in the blind till 11ish, then see if I can go find some mushrooms...

 

Good luck!! Don't be discouraged by the lack of gobbling! Some times when bad weather is coming that pressure keeps them tight lipped! You never know when one might sneak in on ya!!

 

Yep. That's why I'm staying until 11, if the rain ends up holding off I'll actually stay all day. Killed my first turkey in the afternoon actually.

 

Just had a Tom run all the way across the field, wanted no part of me or my decoys....what a wuss.....

 

Man that sucks....can't believe he was scared to come in to the decoys, he had a nice long beard on him, scrapping the ground when he walked....

 

Well think I'm gonna pack it up, go do a little mushroom searching before the rain starts, and try again tomorrow....

 

Packing up to leave and 2 more hens come into the field from where the Tom went earlier, which is the direction my truck is....and now it's raining....

 

This is getting ridiculous, 2 hens finally left, so I start to get ready to go again, look up from packing, and there's another hen coming into the field over by my truck...

 

Keep at em! I'll be out for a while tomorrow morning!

 

Got a storm rolling in, finally made it out, will be back at it in the morning

 

sounds like you guys are having a good time. I'm still 2 weeks out before opener.

 

Pretty quiet morning. Heard one gobble at first light and nothing since. Probably doesn't help there was someone running around on a 4 wheeler early on the neighbors property...
