Definitely going to get after it in CT next week... and NY late next week. Just got permission in another new NY spot (I think). I will have to do a quick recon this weekend to see if worth it. May not have time to put a stand in, so may have to use the climber for a couple quick hunts.
You guys think it’s to late to switch bows lol I got a chance to pick up a Mathews halon 32 for around 600 I’m thinking about making the switch for next year
Hey fellow deer catchers! Sorry I have been a little AWOL lately. 3 days and a wake up until my season starts here in Arkansas! I can’t wait! I put quite a bit of corn out this past weekend on a (new to me) private piece that I got permission to hunt. Have a good rest of your week folks! Bring on Saturday!! That would be a sweet bow to have. It’s never to late to try anything Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Not too late junky. Sounds like a good deal. Get it and get it tuned up! I was able to sneak out yesterday afternoon for a mountain bike ride before cutting the kids around. I was up doing a 6 mile or so Windee single track in the middle of the big mountain near my house. I come around the corner and run into this big guy standing in a swampy area eating grass. It is bear season, but obviously I did not have anything with me. He did not have a care in the world that I was even there. Gotta love good old New England big woods country. I have a very cool video of him but I do not know how to upload it onto the site
If you are a pretty experienced shooter I would say go for it, but practice, practice, practice. I actually just finished setting up a Halon 32 I picked up a few weeks ago. I was able to get it shooting pretty well for me. They come stock with their flat back grip which was giving me all sorts of hand tourqing issues. I ordered a Mathews Focus grip to put on instead but by the time it arrived I had figured out how to shoot the flat back well so I am going to stick with it for this year. The Halon 32 was a big step up from my Mathews Reezen and I have been pretty happy with it. My one and only complaint is that it feels a bit top heavy on its own but I recently put a stab on it and it feels more balanced. Thats a pretty fair price, I paid $650 for mine with a HHA Virtus rest on it.
Yeah, I have a focus grip on my Reezen and I like it a lot but my season is already open and I just don't want to make too many other changes this season. I was going to go this weekend but it still a bit warm and the mosquito's are really bad right now in WI
Absolutely... night and day... the newer bows, regardless of the brand, are much more pleasant to shoot. zero vibration... dead in hand.. quiet. fast. hard hitting.. You can't go wrong with that Halon 32. I had a Halon for a few years before switching to the VXR 31.5
My Reezen is a fast bow but the cams have a huge hump in them, the concentric cams on the halon provide a really smooth draw.
Agreed Blarney... I actually like the draw on the Halon series better than my VXR. It's smooth, but not AS smooth. My favorite Mathews bow to date was the Z7... but I do love the new technologies... the bows now hit so hard its scary. I'm still shooting 70lb 29". 340gr FMJs. Arrows prob weigh 460 grains all in.. never chrono'd it... but it hits like a freight train!
So far so good! This is my first taste in the cell cam world and I’m happy with it so far. I do wish it would send better quality pics and I’m sure actual cell cams do but that’s the only negative I have towards it.
