That's a beautiful deer and certainly one of the nicer deer on the forum from last year! Your taxidermist does really nice work as well. Hold on to that guy as long as you can!

Here is mine from last year. I took him 5 days into the season last year. By far the shortest haired mount I have! His coat was perfect in the exception of one rub on his neck. I am not sure if he had that rub or I did that dragging him out of the standing corn by myself.

Heckler, that is an AWESOME deer. I remember his from last year, and I'm still impressed with the size and character of this buck.

Actually, I had a brain fart this morning when I posted my pictures. The photo of the deer in the field was my 2013 buck. I am getting him mounted, but don't have him back just yet. The shot of the mount is my 2012 buck! (that's what I get for posting pictures that early in the a.m.!)

Regardless, thanks for the kind words, I appreciate it. Our local taxidermy friend has been doing this for a long time, and he does very nice work. I really won't trust my critters to anyone else........even though we have several good taxi's in our area.

I'll be sure to share a picture of my 2013 buck when he is done and I have him back.

I corrected my above post, with the correct field shot of the mounted buck.

Good morning team! I like the name Death From Above as well. Being that this is my first year in the contest I would prefer not to be captain.

I'll be hunting in both PA and KY this year. At one of my spots in PA I have a nice 8-point on camera so far. I haven't decided yet if he is a shooter but it has been a couple of weeks since I have gotten a picture of him. I have cams out at another property I plan on checking this week hopefully I am pleasantly surprised!

As for KY the property I will be hunting there are several very nice bucks. Quite a few in the 130 range that have been caught on camera so far.

I'm hoping I can help put some points on the board this year with a buck in both PA and KY!

Both of those are quality animals! Your 2013 buck score better then the 2012?

Thanks for the kind words. I hope to get it done again in KS early. I will then focus my efforts on harvesting my first deer in NE. If that doesn't happen I will change it up and hunt NE until mid/late October. I hunted Nebraska hard last year. Had one opportunity to harvest a nice buck within the first 3 hours of my first hunt and passed. I will never do that again!

In comparison, the deer I harvested last year is little bitty compared to the two I have on my radar this year. :moose:

Thanks Heckler. To be honest, I haven't scored my 2012 buck. My taxidermist encouraged me to get him scored, as he is sure it will qualify for P&Y. I am just thrilled to have had the opportunity to humanely take such a beautiful deer, and I honestly could care less about numbers, or having him listed in the record book. I plan to get off my butt and score the 2012 buck one of these days. When I do, I will share the numbers.

As of now, it looks like Death from aboveis leading the pack for a team name.

I encourage all team members to chime in with suggestions for everyone to decide on. The more, the merrier!

I have to say I chuckled with Bust a Rut. So that's my vote although Death from Above isn't bad. Here are is a nice wide 8 pt we have on the trail camera back home in Illinois. The second picture is also a younger 10 pt I believe (can't remember for sure and the cameras are being run by my stepfather while I live in Mississippi).

I'll also throw out some names:

Aerial Aces (a nod to team 1 with the ace)
    Arrow Aces (same thing basically)
Artemis' Aces (Greek goddess of the hunt, wild animals and the wilderness with the aces thing again lol)
Apollo's Aces (Greek/Roman god of archery and you guessed it the aces thing...twin happens to be Artemis)

Both of those are very nice deer! That 10 point is a dandy, and a typical big-bodied Illinois Whitetail. Good luck with tracking either of those down this season. You have options, that's for sure! Those would provide nice points for Team #1!

I sure hope I can knock one of them down. Last year was a tough year with a lot of deer knocked out from disease.

That buck in that second pic better start packing on some pounds or he won't make it through winter. You might want to sling an arrow at him if you get a chance. :p

The Captain position basically keeps things in order with the team thread, and is the contact person if the administrative folks have any questions. Also, the captain can request replacements for any team member that doesn't get checked in by the deadline. (That way, the team isn't at a disadvantage due to being short a member or members. I think that about covers the captain duties.

I would suggest anyone that hasn't already done so, please take the time to read and understand the rules for the contest. That will save any confusion or disqualifications once the seasons are in full swing. Pay special attention to the rules concerning photographing and posting your harvest results.

Other than that........it's pretty simple.............and the main objective is to have some fun and make some new friends! :woot:

I think it will be helpful to organize a thread with the team name ideas, and add vote totals to them as the ideas come in. I will update the list as name ideas are submitted, and votes are cast. So far, here is what we have:

    Passthru Posse
    Bucked Up
    Bust a Rut - 1 vote
Death from Above - 5 votes
    Rack Attack
    Full Draw Fury
    Rut Masters
    Aerial Aces
    Arrow Aces
    Artemis' Aces
    Apollo's Aces

We have had several "I likes" for a couple of the names. If everyone would, please repost with your official vote for the team name you would like. Nothing is etched in stone, so if something pops up you like better after a vote, it can be changed. Thanks...........hopefully this helps keep track of things!

(If anyone wants to throw their hat in the ring for team captain, just jump on in. Don't be bashful........you won't hurt my feelings at all!) :tu:

We have already selected you as team leader! ^^^And you are doing a mighty fine job at that.^^^ Have we all checked in but navy_bowhunter? Doesn't look like he has logged on in over a month. Would it be best to send him a PM as he most likely doesn't even realize teams have been drawn?

Heckler, I did send navy bowhunter a PM yesterday evening. We are all accounted except him. I checked his log in stats, and thought the same as you. Hopefully, he will stop by and get checked in and we can move forward. Great minds really do think alike Heckler! This could be dangerous. :woot:

Thank you for the kind words. If everyone wants me to keep going as Captain, I'll do my best for the team.

I hunt squirrels on occasion, and when I hunted with my dad, I hunted Quail and Pheasant a lot. Now days, I stick to squirrels, bowhunting only for Whitetail Deer, and my son and plan to get serious about getting after the local Coyote population.

I have your vote tallied in the team name thread.
