Here's a few of the bucks my son and I will be keeping an eye out for. There are a couple more besides these that have peaked my interest too. I'm hoping for an exciting season!
Those are some nice looking buck! I have a few shooters I'm keeping my eye on. Not too long until the season starts here in PA!
Hello all! Checking in from upstate New York as well, not a lot of boomers around my neck of the woods but put me down for some does!
Great to have you aboard. Just one to go, and we'll have a full team checked in and ready to roll. I guess it's time to put on the thinking caps and come up with a team name, and give some thought to a team captain? (I really don't have the time, or desire, to be team captain. I will be participating a lot, both on the forum, and hunting hard, but I feel the Team Captain duties would be better handled by another team member.) Now................let's get set to have some fun here, and have a great season in the deer woods!
I have a bunch of does and a few small bucks on cam and one big buck we only have him on cam once I hunt to fill the freezer so I hope I can put up points and we have to beat team 9 my son is on that team
Ok, we have everyone checked in but one person. Hopefully, our last team member will get checked in soon, and we can get rolling. In the meantime, we need to get some ideas flowing for a team name, and give some thought to choosing a team captain. If anyone has team name ideas, or would like to volunteer to take the team captain roll this year, please post away!
I like "Bucked Up" for a name so far. I am sure the other guys will contribute some names for consideration too. I will send our last team member a PM, and see if we can get everyone checked in, and moving toward a team name and captain.
death from above, rack attack . this is my first year on this contest so im not volunteering for captain.
Jeeezeee, I can't believe how much I have missed already! You all are chatter boxes. Let's keep that going through the season. I will make sure I subscribe to the thread. I've been real busy lately so it is going to be hit and miss for me for awhile. My oldest boy is in training (first year hunting). It takes a bunch of extra prep work for these youngsters. I have a couple of "real nice" deer I have been getting on camera regularly, lots of daytime pics to boot! I have a feeling this is going to be a real good year for us. Which we need after the last couple seasons! I've been hand feeding the two big guys so to speak. If I had it my way I'd chain them up to the nearest tree until season gets here. lol! If they hold there pattern come mid Sept. they are going to be in trouble. I am going to hold off posting any trail cam photos until either I kill one of them or I can confirm they are indeed dead. Harvested by another hunter or other. I am fine with the name and I believe Beehunter would make a fine team captain! I kind of liked "death from above". Not your typical whitetail junkie team name. How'd you all do last year? Feeling confident this year? Just remember, It's those darn goose eggs that destroy a team. No one likes to eat tag soup either! Let's put a bunch of points on the board and have a good time doing it!
I like the thought behind the name "Death from above", as it is unique and not just another cliche' team moniker. Honestly, I appreciate the vote of confidence for team captain, but if someone wants to step up into that role, I am perfectly fine with that. That being said, if no one else is comfortable in the captain role, I will do my best to fulfill the duties. I did ok last year. I was fortunate to take a nice big 9 point buck on Nov. 7th. I am feeling good about this year too. We have several nice bucks on our property, and the good Lord willing, I will be able to put a good shot on one. Just remember.......points are points, so it's important to remember this isn't a big buck challenge contest. We just want to have fun, and put some venison in the freezer. I thought I would share last years score. He was a beautiful deer, and he looks nice on the wall! Below is the field shot of my 2012 buck, which is shown mounted: This is my 2013 buck, which I don't have back from the taxidermist yet.
