WOOOHOOOOOO! Congratulations! Looking forward to pictures and the story of the hunt! :tu:

I have all my gear checked and double-checked, and ready to roll for my first sit tomorrow morning. Should be in the upper 30's/low 40's in the morning with a slight breeze. Perfect October bowhunting weather..........and I can't wait to get out there!

Wooohoooo! Congrats!!!! Skunked tonight. Literally, all I saw was a skunk. Going to old faithful in the morning. 38 degrees in the morning. If this cold snap doesn't get them moving nothing will.....

    Ok guys, here goes...
I was running a bit late when I got to my hunting spot, about 5:15 or so, and had a particular tree in mind that I wanted to climb. After 30 very frustrating moments of fighting with it, I gave up, got down and climbed a tree about 100 yards away across the field, a tree that iv had success from in the past.
Not 10 minutes after settling in, at about 6:00 I look up and see a doe, standing right under the tree I tried to climb..... I watch her for several minutes before she walks away. Then all of a sudden I hear deer coming, I have a doe, a fawn, a small 6, and a large spike all walk directly under my tree. At the first opportunity I draw my bow, and watch as the bucks walk out in the field, but the does hang back. After what seemed like forever the doe stepped out and turned broadside. At the shot, they all scattered but stayed close by as the doe ran 25 yards and collapsed. First hunt with my new bow, and a doe down!
I ended up seeing a shooter buck and several more does right at last light. Maybe tomorrow I'll meet him again...

Very nice. Meat in the freezer, and points on the board! Congratulations again on a good hunt. Don't you love it when making a change on the fly works out with a filled tag? :)

I'm up and at 'em this morning, getting ready for hunt #1 in 2014. Clear and crisp 40 degrees........I'm beyond ready! :woot:

Had a pretty good sit this morning. Had one doe in bow range early this morning. I drew on her and just didn't have quite enough light to feel comfortable with the shot. At 8:30 I spotted 3 bucks and 2 does. One of which was a pretty good buck. I'd watch those 3 bucks push each other around for the next 2 hours. They were getting after each other pretty good. Seems early for them to be bashing each other. Seen several new rubs on the way out too. I'm going back in early tomorrow afternoon and setup where I am seeing all the traffic.

I had a good sit on Saturday morning, before the winds really started gusting around. The deer were on the move with the cool weather. About 15 minutes after sunrise I started seeing deer. I had a big mature doe come in from behind me, and I had her broadside at 5 yards, but I wasn't in position to shoot, and I couldn't get there without her busting me. She was a dandy, I hope to see her again. I saw 2 smallish bucks, and a bunch of other deer, for a total of at least 10 deer for the morning.

I have a good wind for this same stand this morning, so I am heading back out shortly. It is a beautiful morning to be in the woods........I hope today is as good as yesterday!

I'm glad you guys are getting out and seeing deer. The drag out Friday put a whipping on me because I was pretty sick anyways. Iv been trying to take it easy since to recuperate. I'll get back out this afternoon most likely. Good luck out there fellas

I had a good morning sit today, other than the fact that I somehow forgot my hat. My noggin was a bit chilly, but nothing unbearable. I saw 7 does, and one smaller buck. I didn't have anything within shooting range. I saw 2 really big mature does browsing together, and watched them for about 45 minutes. They were both shooters, and were easily 175+ lb. Deer.

This new set is along a creek in some really thick stuff, but so far, so good.

I decided to use my better judgment and hold off on hunting that new spot where I am seeing all that activity. I am going to wait for a east wind on Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon to sneak in early and hang a stand. This is my last week hunting before We head to Mexico for 7 days. I'll try to post some pics of the monster fish we catch! I planned on taking next weekend off anyway. We have a 2 day pre-rut doe only rifle season here that is next weekend I would like to skip....

I can't imagine a 175# doe! Iv killed very few bucks that hit that mark. An average mature doe where I hunt will be around 80.

It's 5:00 am and I'm headed to the farm, hopefully I can get a doe put down if not I'll take one of the bucks we have on cam we have a west wind in the morning and and sw wind for this evening. Only bad news is the fact that my boots are still wet from the gully gusher rain we had on opening day, I wasn't thinking and I left them in the garage instead of using the boot dryer.

WOW! 175?!? That's a healthy doe! You should get 75 points if you get one of those! :)

Hopefully tonight turns out better for me I had a chance at the big ten on our property but, it was to early to really get him on film. When it got light enough he stayed at 48 yards and well that's just a little to far. If the Mosquitos stop I should have some luck!
