So hunting Friday evening (our opener) will be a sweat fest! Really tempted to hunt at the house and pop a young doe.

They have been hitting the apple and peach tree almost every evening the past couple of weeks. Last night the were 5 does munching on the peaches. I can set my ground blind up in the shade of a big pine tree and have some close shots.

    Would that be cheating? LOL

The set up. The circles are the trees. Star would be ground blind.

I’d give it a try. Just be a little worried about the road.

It is a private road that goes back to a boat ramp on a public WLR. Would not be the first deer killed in the front yard!

If the wind is as predicted (SE), I’m either going to hunt #1 or #2. #2 is a new set, so I’m not sure when/if it will be productive. Also, I pretty much have to cut through the whole property to access it, so I’m not sure if it’s worth it. The green pickle is some thick nasty stuff with some beds and a trail. I believe #2 to be a staging area. #1 is where I killed my buck last year. There is bedding on that point and I could access through the corn, but there are beans this year, so I’m not sure if I can get in there clean that way. I do have a trail to access it from a nasty ravine coming from the south at the end of the pickle

Saturday evening, I’ll hit the ground blind on the food plot. Then, I’ll probably give it a rest and hunt some public until later in October.

It all depends on which way the deer tend to move morning and evenings on your map. Mornings I would choose #2 - evenings #1.

reviewed calendars with the Mrs and have several days that appear to work for me to get out of town and hunt.
Looks like first day won't be until Oct 22, was hoping to get in woods before that but it is what it is.

I’ve never killed nor ate wild turkey in my life, only drank it. I’ve not bought a turkey tag and had numerous opportunities, so this year, with all the pics I’m getting of them, I’m going to eat one.

I found a bottle water that is 6 years old in my bag, shall I take a drink?
