So we’re packing stuff up to move out. I was getting my hunting stuff all together so I could keep it separate. In the midst of hanging stands a few weekends ago, I’ve misplaced my saddle. It’s either at the base of the tree at the last stand we hung or it bounced out in a rough creek crossing I wasn’t sure we’d get through. I’m also the king of losing ****, but my saddle!?!?
It was eating me up so I ran up there this morning and back tracked. I left my saddle laying at the bottom of the last stand I hung like a six year old taking dad’s tools out in the woods and leaving them lay.
we were 90 degrees yesterday and today in 70's, long range forecast doesn't show it heating back up and the heat/lack of rain has really helped dry up some of the corn. Hoping this means early harvest.
Another week or so and they will be cutting the beans on my lease. The corn still has a ways to go yet.
guess i never really explained what Im hunting. Were in the middle of a long run of hard wood timber, lots of oaks and hickorys then filled in with cedar. none of our timber actually borders tillable except one small run but based on property lay out it isnt really huntable as we dont own that row crop. the area north of the road is new to us, we've hunted it 1 season so far and honestly dont really know it that well yet. Ive crudely marked main trails and current stand locations. orange box is area i want to get a stand in, seems heavily trailed with several mature oaks, green area is a steep ravine that is really not huntable. orange dot is a current stand we simply never sit so thinking about relocating it to the orange area north of road. SW corner of our property is a clover field but its old and not really used by the deer much anymore. we have multiple apple and pear trees next to clover, all the apple trees are fenced in, and probably will be for another 2-3 years. 2 attached pictures show our land and cabin, then zoomed out showing greatee landscape of the area. South of the E W road property is on a decent incline top of hill west going down as you go east.
Annv weekend for me. Oct 2 Saturday -opening day. Oct 05 wedding annv. Tues. Celebrating annv 10/02. 25 years. However the big celebrating will be may 31 - June 9 of 2022. Cruise to Alaska
this little guy showed up this morning, would like to say I'd give him a year but i have a happy trigger finger.
First I must place 2 does in the freezer also. Then my son will be home from college 10/04. So he should get out a day or two also with me. Can't wait for that to happen
Same here. Leaving work early on Friday. Not sure what stand I’m going to hunt. They’ve been calling for a NE wind which works for multiple spots. Really low expectations for seeing a shooter buck this early, but a doe is definitely on the menu.
I hope they're wrong about the NE wind. That would be the worst for my stands Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
season in Missouri opened 9/15 but up until the other day it was too hot for me for hunting. I dont have any PTO in the books yet but for the most part can take any day off I'd like. its been in the 40s the last couple mornings and the itch is strong now
my biggest issue is that we have 4 kids 7 5 3 and 1 so we always have something going on. Makes it tough on the Mrs if I bounce for several days to hunt. the 2 oldest kids are good but the 3 year old is nonstop. as the 3 year old gets older my hunting life will be a lot easier. Im watching forecast and my cell cameras looking for when I should head down to cabin to hunt. I normally put kids to bed then leave. This gets me to cabin between 11pm and midnight to hunt the next day.
