Got up in the stand and seen the biggest buck I know of on the farm with a hot doe. The closest they got was 80 yards. She moved off and bedded in a hedge row. He was so love struck that I was able to get down and keep some trees and brush between us. I got to 53 yards but couldn’t calm my nerves enough for a shot. Drew back 5 times just didn’t feel right. About an hour later and a missed opportunity I managed to hide in a nearby pop up blind. 9 does filtered out at last light and team 1 has 50 more points.

Down south were just starting to see the young-ins chasing. By the weekend it should be full on lights out chase mode.

Caught this new guy on camera last week!

@pastorjim08 Have you had a chance to put a tape on your buck yet?

Bad news on that front. I did measure the antlers before I took the deer to be processed. I had all the numbers written down but my wife didn't know what it was and threw it away. So I guess I can only contribute a doe now

So you didn't keep the antlers? You could always count it as a ferggie buck Jim if it didn't make the 50 mark....

Pride is a selfish thing... I expected more from you!

It has nothing to do with pride and I am disappointed that you would consider that the issue. I explained what happened and that's what happened. I am to pick up the meat today and I will see if they kept the carcass but I don't think so. I'm not really sure where the pride thing came in. If I were all about pride I wouldn't have shot the animal in the first place. I did think it was a bit bigger when I pulled the trigger but I also knew it was no monster.

Maybe I got it wrong but if you measured it what did it score..
Been on to many teams where a guy shoots a little buck and won't turn it in because it does not exceed 50.. Got me a bit jaded I guess. Its all for fun Jim.. No hard feelings...

No hard feelings what so ever fellow Hoosier. I measured and wrote it all down on a napkin that I had in the truck. I took it in the house intending to add it up later but I didn't and then my wife came along and started cleaning.

PJ, if the processor didn't keep horns just post up a Fergie score. The processors around keep horns until you pick meat up. So here's to hoping.

I usually have at least a doe by now. This sucks.
