My buddy was recently in the market for a new groundhog rifle and he had been checking out several rifles and after looking them over, he decided to put his money down for a new TC Icon. He brought it over to show me, and I was very impressed with the quality. The only Thompson Center guns I had ever used were older flintlock muzzleloaders. He picked up an Icon in .243 caliber with weathershield and the over-molded Houge stock. He asked for my help in picking out a new scope, he had his mind almost set on a Zeiss but after some research he decided on a 30mm Pentax Lightseeker 4-16X50 with Weaver extra high tactical scope rings. We set the scope up and headed out to the farm to sight it in with 100 grain Federal Fusion bullets. To say that this was by far the easiest gun to ever sight in would be an understatement. 3 bullets out of the gun and it was hitting exactly 1" high at 100 yards. The gun is guarenteed to shoot sub M.O.A. but even then the accuracy we found was amazing. Using a bi-pod, laying in the bed of a truck, this gun was shooting under 1/2" groups at 100 yards. With a solid bench rest I would not be suprised to see 3 shot groups with all bullets touching at further distances. The gun has already helped to pick off groundhogs at over 300 yards, and my girlfriend was able to pick off a groundhog at the farm for her first kill of any animal ever with this gun. Just figured I would give some thoughts on this gun and see if anybody else had experience with the TC Icon and what your thoughts were on the gun.
