This will be my first season pursuing taxidermy. I'm in the process right now of starting a few deer heads. I will be focusing only on whitetail deer, so I become great at it. I just figured I would give some of you that are in the area a heads up, and if you already have someone thats fine too. I will be doing my own tanning for those wondering, so I won't have any down time! As soon as I start finishing some heads, I will post pics of my work. Until then lets have a great and safe hunting season, and I will keep everyone posted.
    :tu:Thanks, Ryan

I believe his name is Brad Martin he is from Wichita Falls, TX just a short drive from where im located and he trains a kid that graduated twoyears ago as hes retired. But, he does work for game wardens still just through my friend that graduated shop. If you have never heard of the Lucy Park Deer in Wichita Falls TX you need to look that up. He got to mount that and another deer killed on the red river up around Byers, TX that scored i believe in the 240s beating the lucy park deer. Very interesting stories.

My wife has always wanted me to find side work, so I finally decided why not do taxidermy, since my true passion is whitetails. I'm very excited, it will be fun and rewarding, it will be neat to here peoples encounters and stories of their harvest!

I have played around with taxidermy for a few years and have really enjoyed it. I'm like you, anything to do with being involved with whitetails more, I'm there. And to make some extra hunting $ is always good.

I have relatives in Illinois and usually go for a couple 3-4 day hunts during season. Where are you located exactually?

    Good luck with it.

sounds like a plan and good luck with it. I was going to dabble in it to but life got in the way as usual :( I had/have a archery Yote still in the freezer. I used krowtan to tan it but thats as far as I got. I think a Deer would definatly be the way to start out. I have some tapes on how to do that and might still give it a try. good luck bro! :)

I'm located in northern illinois, cherry valley ( southeast rockford). If you have ever traveled on I-90 going through rockford you go by magic waters water park, I live in that sub-division right next to it. When I get some heads done, I can put my address up for those wanting to see my work!
