While I do like it, I'm not sure I would want one. Not sure what it is about it, I just look at it and see a frozen dead deer someone happened upon. Maybe that's what it is? While a hell of a lot more expensive, maybe something like that in a full body mount would help.
I still want to know how the frozen buck is done. Epoxy? Might be a ***** to clean? Some of those sickles look pretty sharp too!
I do like it for what it is, but it's not realistic as you see most mounts described as lifelike. It looks dead to me. Get rid of the icicles on the antlers and I think it becomes a true Canadian cold buck. I can see that. The icicles makes me think it is a very talented taxidermist showing an outside the box approach to showcase his talents. Never seen anything like it, but since this post, have seen it pop up on Facebook from a local group and it will probably become the most shared shortly. Awesome work, just not something I would want. I'd bet it would be a $5 - 7,000 mount and 3 year wait
Thats exactly what i was thinking. The icicles, while they look cool, are over the top for realism. Maybe the could and would form like that in a bad freezing rain storm idk
Not sure about it looking dead but it does look like it took a dunk in water in the middle of winter which I have seen before. Only time I have ever seen any deer close to that is if they broke through the ice on a pond, river, etc.... and spent a considerable amount of time trying to get out. Most likely near death.... I am sure it is possible, but the conditions would have to be perfect for that to occur. I agree its a little over the top but it is still hella cool.
Yep. It was done by Wilson Wildlife Artistry from Tennessee and this was a Texas buck. You can look him up on Instagram at nathan.wilson.taxidermist and he seems to do great work. Very cool mount!
