I have not had the rack to measure it for the contest. Didn't see the point in posting about it without having the measurements to enter it into the contest. The euro was supposed to be a 2 week turn around, but obviously that didn't happen.

And since you are so worried about why I have not participated much this year... I have had to recover from two stomach surgeries where two sections of my intestines were removed, my oldest son started kindergarten and soccer and I have an infant son. My life has been at an all time busy. Free time this year wasn't spent on the 'net.

As others suggested, I'd get a different skull and carefully cut out a space to fit your antlers and skull piece in. Strip it of meat, boil, power wash, use dermestid beetles or whatever method you choose, then epoxy the antlers to the old skull. Fill the gaps and sculpt back to the correct contour for a seamless joint. Paint it bone white with subtle variation like unpainted skulls have. It would be a cool project, and only you would know it wasn't the original skull. Your taxidermist should be familiar with epoxy and filling techniques.

Personally, I would probably go with the shoulder mount option. If you just want to use the money in other ways (your two kids :tu: ) I would probably try to reattach the skull plate to the original skull if it is still around. That would seem like the easiest solution that still looks natural.

Sounds like they cut it off for a mount...so it's probably sill on a section of the plate

Personally, I would take the deeply discounted shoulder mount. That is a tough situation. Great buck!

Congrats on the buck, buddy! I would go with the discounted shoulder mount...sorry that happened to you but I would trade places with you in a second with all the slammers you've killed :)

On a serious note, praying all is well with you physically....

Not having enough room for another shoulder mount, a welcomed problem we'd all love to have!! Congrats on the addition to the family, hope the stomach issues are over.

I'd do the fake skull, and ask for a discount for your buck next year (since it seems to be a yearly trend).

Now post some more details on this buck man! Congrats!
