One euro of an upper 130's 8 point and my first buck (small 7) on a plaque. I wanted to display this one with the other skull mount.

That is still a very nice buck to get mounted though. If I was you and I had some nice bucks all ready mounted and wanted a euro mount and couldn't but got a discount for a shoulder on a buck like that id use that buck to make a sick mount out of. Get it pullin an arrow out of its shoulder or making a rub or biting an apple. Then itd make worth mounting it with the others because its different and cooler.

Well hell, I was wondering the same thing.

If you don't want it actually shoulder mounted...tough call. Maybe something like what Justin posted. That's actually a pretty ****ty oopsie...

It would have to be a deeply reduced price shoulder mount for me.

Some of those plastic skulls that have been dipped look pretty good. You could screw your antlers right too it.

I would get the shoulder mount in that case.

I have 2 of the plastic skulls and I wish I had the real ones for sure. That being said, with them dipped they don't look bad honestly. My biggest issue with mine is the guy did them poorly. The spread was wrong and he didn't put much effort in making the bases look natural, they arnt centered at all on the antler and just look funny. But if the guy does good work, and Im sure after this mistake he will, the plastic skull will look good in my opinion.

I'd take the discounted shoulder mount. I would not take a credit because if my taxidermist made that kind of frack-up I'd not be taking anything back to him. That's not a mistake...that's an I don't give a Fudge problem.

My normal taxidermist last year took way too long and screwed my mount up and it's the last thing I'll ever take to him.

I would take the discounted shoulder mount, but then again even deeply discounted could cost more than what you wanted to a spend on your original thought. Then again, he might not even be able to differentiate your cape from others donated to him at this point.

Does it have to be wall mounted? Was thinking maybe if the guy is good with other mounts he could incorporate your other euro and skull cap mounts with this one into some sort of habitat type mount?

Thinking out loud, but offering a different idea at the same time.

Sucks you won't get your original choice, that's a pretty cool looking buck, love the drop tine.

I'm no taxidermist but couldn't he epoxy the antlers back on? I would think it would have been a clean cut and wouldn't be a problem.

Still a drop tine. I'd shoulder mount one if I ever shoot one for sure.

    Nice buck! Congrats

I'd be furious. Probably go with the leather wrapped plaque mount or that skull hooker cap thing. And expect him to deeply discount the next buck.

If he still has the original skull that they cut them off of that is a doable solution.. it would take some bondo filler , a little time and effort and some painting for the final touch and sealing.. but it is possible, if not he has plenty of other buck skulls at his disposal to do this with .
