transfer shop is just a local home in wich a person as you or i put deer in a large freezer waiting on the taxi shop to make a sweep thru my area and take deer back to the there shop. ok the taxi shop is a 100 miles one way from my home so this shop has set up a person in each town to rec deer from hunters and hold them until the come to each town and collect them. they return them the same way. the place i went has a few mounts and a large photo album of other mounts.
Ok, here are some pics,, either the cape got switched or damaged ...not sure but i feel no matter how it was damaged it's a bad cape and should not have been used. I provided a pic of the deer, with the deer head before the shop mounted it. all they would of had to do was make the call and i would have paid for a new cape. deer is still at the transfer shop, i stopped today and shot some pics.
It looks like the deer was drug hard out of the woods after the kill. That is where meeting the taxidermist face to face comes in he or she could have told you then that would happen, and make arangements for a new cape then. Other then that it is still a hack job. The stiching is bad and should have been peened down, and it looks like the form was to small or was altered. They eyes have no tear ducts, or any other definition. I would take my knife to that mount and cut the stiches, unscrew the skull plate and never look back! You shouldn't have a hard time finding a cape at a butcher shop this fall, maybe 10 bucks, then bring it to a good taxidermist. By the sounds of it they are used to people not being pleased.
yea that looks like crap. i've never seen a mount that bad, and clearly the taxi doesn't care about the product they put out because that looks awful. i really hope you can get your money back or destroy their business, not that it will last long with mounts like that. best of luck man
I'm with him on this one. I cant believe the way that thing looks. Also that deer has some crazy junk at the bases of his rack!
Well If your cape was not like that when you gave it to them, its not your cape. It's pretty apparent that is from dragging the deer out of the woods on it's shoulder. And your right, the mount overall sucks even if the cape was good.
Sorry about your bad luck there. That is a terrible taxidermy job. Hope you get some satisfaction from the shop.
wow, I'd definately set up a meeting with the taxidermist. The taxidermists job is to do it right the 1st time... and if someone doesnt like what they see... you fix it.
