I had to pay the feds and state $25k one year. I was 'private contractor' so I had write checks. It was painful.

We need a serious over haul in our tax system, LOL

I got bumped up to the next bracket, screw this BS. We all should pay the same as Capital Gains, 15% not matter what you make. No deductions, stop punishing people for making more money and rewarding those who make nothing.

Bring back GW!!!!!!!! viva la Bush

    Sorry rant over

Screw income tax, go with a consumption based tax system and then we at least collect from the deadbeats....

I've been in favor of this for years. This way, everyone pays.

So now to file you have to prove that you have health insurance, I have no problem with it but why does the govt feel this is acceptable but the idea that you must have a current valid photo id to vote is unacceptable?

I'll probably get a nice refund this year but I do hate the way taxes play out. I'm at a transitional phase in my life and the money is appreciated but I'd gladly lose out on this refund if it would keep the perpetual deadbeats from getting to cash in on workers tax money every year. I feel semi-apologetic that I am getting a refund, but don't worry in a year or so I'll be back on the losing side at tax season.

I'd rather have to pay a small amount at the end of the year, then to get back a large chunk. I try to balance out my withholdings, so that I'm not lending them my money free of charge. I want my money when I earn it, not the following year.

With what you'll get back more each month, apply that to extra payments on interest debts that you have to save interest, and/or use to increase your 401K contributions to save even more. You won't see much interest earned in a normal savings account, but anything is more than you'll see when the IRS sends it back to you.

Taxes are the only bill that I have ever seen where some folks are willing to overpay each week, then pay someone at the end of the year to tell them how much they overpaid and then get it back weeks later.

When I filed my taxes all I had to do is check the box which indicates I had qualifying health coverage for the entire year of 2014.
