I've been shooting my bow about 100 yards and further. Here is the problem. I'm using a block black target. Aiming at the heart; I tend to miss about 4-6" to the left. I believe I'm pulling the bow. At 70 yards its not noticeable. Yes, the bow has been walk back tuned. Yes, it has been bare shaft tune. Any advice?
Shooting those long distances your form has to be spot of to shoot consistently. The slightest movement equals big misses by the time the arrow makes it to target. What is your grip like? You could be torquing it. I suggest you video yourself shooting. It can be an eye opener.
More than likely just a slight form issue. If your on at 70, I wouldn't touch the bow, I would just adjust my holdover slightly to the right on those long shots.
Post up a video. 1) so we can help with the left misses and 2) so we can see that awesome shooting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Why would anyone need to make shots than far anyways? for elk the normal shot is 40-50 yrds. Deer is what I've bow hunted for 7 yrs now and my longest shot on a deer was 32 yrds. 9 out of 10 shots are under 20. Why worry about 100?
He is just merely practicing at that distance. It will definitely make you a better shot and show you how critical every little movement is. As far as the hitting left goes, my initial thought is this....is where you are practicing perfectly flat? Does the ground slope from right to left by chance? My first thought is it might just be purely a bubble issue. Pay very close attention to that. At that distance, your pin is covering up so much of the target it's hard to complain about 4-6". I know my tendency is to hit just right at that distance (left handed) because I will sometimes hold on the right side subconsciously so I can see what I am aiming at better Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Because practicing at long range is fun, plus it improves your shooting by ensuring you have very good form. Plus he is target shooting, not hunting. A common mistake by archers and bowhunters alike is assuming everybody does what they do, or should.
Im just getting where my 20 and 30 yard shots are staying within 4-6" of the bulls eye lol yall guys are inspiring
