Well, I am new to this site and have found the great time I have had on another site so I am now getting involved with some others. I just wanted to share with you all what I am looking forward to hunting this year. I hope that this guy comes by! On October 22nd 2008 at 2:24 AM I got some shots of the hog walking by my stand. My trail cam is set up exactly 20 yards from my stand! When I saw these photos I about fell out just knowing he was in the area. The next time I got pictures of him was on December 8th 2008 at 9:35 PM. That was the last time that anyone or any camera got him. I was hopeing that he was not taken by a hunter. A buddy of mine said that he had a big body come up on him in the late part of December that was a buck that shed his antlers. I did not believe him thinking it was to early. I decided to go for a walk on January 3rd 2009 in a park where my hunting spot is by. I started my walk in some prairie grass and not but 30 yards from my truck I found the 12 point match set! I was really excited! Here are the pictures in the order that my trail camera got them and then pics of how I found the antlers. What a set! I hope now I can add him to my WALL OF FAME and become my first ever Pope & Young!
Yes I have had my camera out this year and the problem I have is standing corn all around my hunting spot. I have pictures of all does and fawns! NO BUCKS! This is normal though when standing corn is up in that area! When it comes down then game is on!
I'm in the same boat as you. No buck pictures around the standing corn, but I am getting some in the bean fields. That buck is a dandy for sure though. Best of luck with him and can't wait to see the final picture of you sitting behind him.
Good lookin buck! Whereabouts in central IL are you? I'm probably somewhat close, I hunt in Menard County pretty close to Cass
I live in Pontiac and hunt not far away! I can only hope to have him in my hands this season! The prayers have started from last year and have not stopped!
Ahh we're not too overly close then. I was hoping to have someone within the next couple counties of me on the forums =). Good luck on your pursuit of that bruiser this year and be sure to update us as your season progresses!
There is nothing better in the deer woods then building a history with a certain buck. Good luck to you on your quest!
