I am new here but have been hunting for about 10 years. I have a crossbow but would love a bow. This is the issue I have. I am 6'11 am I going to be able to get a bow?

    First, welcome to the forums!

Since I'm only 6' it stands to reason that this isn't my area of expertise. I'm sure there are some folks on here who know something about this.

Still, do you have any idea at all what your draw length might be? I know that Mathews makes a bow called the Atlas that you can get with a 34" draw length, which is huge. I don't know if that would work for you, but I remember reading about a bow hunter that was 6' 9" and his draw length was 33".

I also did a quick search and saw where someone in a shop had set up a Martin bow for someone that had a 35" draw length.

I'm guessing you CAN get a vertical bow to fit you but you're going to HAVE to go to a shop and have one ordered for you.

Good luck, and if you do find one please come back and update us. I, for one, would love to know how it turns out for you.

We have a contest just starting up so the traffic in the Tech Talk forum is going to be almost non-existent.

I'm going to move this thread to the Bowhunting Talk forum so maybe someone with more knowledge that I have can chime in.

Hoyt has a bow, double xl, goes up to 34" draw length. That should be long enough I believe? If I remember right, you take your wings stand and divide by 2.5. If you're wing span is in line with your height, which is normal... you would be 95" divided by 2.5, gives you a 38" draw
It may not be enough tho
You might have to shoot bent arm....

That would be 83" divided by 2.5 = 33.2" DL

I would recommend going with either the Bowtech BT Mag X which goes to 34inches or better yet the Hoyt Double XL which will go to 35.5inches. You may have some issues getting arrows to the correct size so you may need to get a hamskea overdraw, but start with full size arrows and go from there. Gold tip also has a build your own arrow section on their website so if you are longer than full sized arrows they may be able to make a longer one! Best of luck and welcome to the forum. Let me know what are you are in and I might be able to get you in touch with a local shop owner!

Wow thanks for all the information. My draw length is 41 inches. I have been to see a pse rep and they cant do anything for me. I asked if there are extensions to the handle and bow but he did not understand the question. I will do more research but hope the information I got from you all will help me out. Thanks again.

Your wingspan is over 8.5 feet? Wow!

I hope you can find something. If not, you may have to resort to a crossbow.

That is a hell of a wingspan. I was gonna say 33 to 34 would probably work using the wingspan divided by 2.5 but I guess not. What about a long bow? Any traditional guys have any thoughts on this?

I'm 6'8 with a 31.5" draw...that's hard enough to find gear that works. A custom build might be your only option for a compound bow. Good luck!

Are you sure you measured your draw length correctly? 41 inches would put you at like 8’5 if your wingspan is as long as your height. I’m 6’5 and have a 32.5 draw. I shoot a Hoyt double Xl and it works great for me. That bow can be set to 34 inch draw. Hope this helps. Good luck this season.

I think you need to get a second opinion on draw length. That seems pretty long.

With that being said, I'm 5'5" and use a 24.5" draw as that's more comfortable for me. So of course the above is just a guideline. I just feel them telling you 41" is a little far. But, I've never seen you so it could be right, too!
