I've used an umbrella from time to time and have not had any issues with being busted (any more than I usually do)... ;).

I would guess the moving/smelly hunter underneath the umbrella is a bigger concern then a u shaped camo blob above them. My 2 cents.

I don't have one, but am planning on getting one.

We are sitting in a tree, with a bow hanging off of it... I don't think the umbrella would make a huge difference in the silhouette.

All kidding aside I too was skeptical of the umbrella at first. I was worried about the size of it, the amount of noise it would create, possibly getting in the way of the shot, etc. After using one for the first time all of those fears went out the window. When it's raining it's noisy in the woods and the umbrella doesn't add to that enough to make anyone, or anything, aware of it. If you put it up high enough it will never get in the way of shooting. And I've yet to have any deer bust me because the umbrella was there.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like you can get away with murder in the rain because it's harder for the deer to hear, harder for them to smell and everything is moving as the rain hits it. In that situation I'll take being comfortable and mostly dry versus getting soaked for no reason.

When it's cold and rainy on Halloween I'll be toasty warm in my heated hoodie and dry under my tree umbrella and all you haters can suck it.

I agree with most of what you said about getting away with murder when it's raining out. I understand you really need to keep the camera dry so I'll give you a pass on that but come on heated hoody umbrella heat packs in your boots and hand warmers in your gloves you might as well go sit on the couch and watch reruns of Tiffany shooting some big buck. I just don't need all the gadgets to make the woods more comfortable, I think it might be a generation gap then. When I started hunting there wasn't Gortex or Thinsalate just old school cotton long underware. It made us tougher to withstand the elements without the toys. You 30 something guys need to man up a bit and deal with some harsh weather it'll put hair on your chest.lol Bunch of wussies!!!

I live in my own world when it comes to spelling and grammar... :)

It seems it was a poor anology that JZ planned to take down the fort (the bbk) and you were his conspirator.

Besides, you know it's just a ball busting and it is all Raceways fault we didn't win the third year. :tu:

I've used mine in turkey season but I'll have to give it a go in the bow stand.

Scott I use one when drizzling to protect me but mainly the camera. I have had many encounters with Bucks and Doe's and have never had an issue but I hunt pretty high so I can get away with extra movement running the camera. Last season I did have a mature older buck within 35 yards with no shot for an hour, he never picked me out!

I know you're ball busting but I like playing along. I get the analogy now.
