One of these days, somebody on this site is going to take the $50 gamble and listen to me: BUY THE DAMN ICEBREAKER BOOT BLANKETS! I'm a skinny little white guy. I shiver at the mere sight of a snowflake, and routinely use my dog as a toe warmer while I watch TV. Honest to god, I perched my scrawny ass in a treestand in January, 2010 on a day when the high temperature was a balmy six degrees. I sat that stand dark-to-dark, with nothing but a frozen Sheetz MTO that I had to stuff up my shirt to thaw out before consuming. I wore nothing that day but a pair of plain old Puma cotton tube socks, and a pair of uninsulated Alphaburly boots. It wasn't a really long walk, or otherwise I might've swapped a pair of unsweaty socks in. Just wear whatever you want to your stand, brush off the snow, throw 2 chemical handwarmers in each boot mitten (one in the toe, one in the heel), pull your pants overtop of your boots, put the mittens on overtop your pants, and sit there. Your feet will roast for hours and hours. No BS. They look absolutely retarded, and your buddies will laugh and make jokes about your gay booties, but all the fun-making goes out the window when your feet are steaming hot, and everybody else is sitting in the truck with frostbite, begging you to come out of the woods.
That's funny. I use make shift things that work for me. Though, I bought a pair of underarmor socks last year and they work.
I couldnct agree more with the ppl saying underarmour, make sure you get cold gear. They put a lot of research into their products everything from sports to hunting. Best choice i've made for summer & winter.
When it's cold enough to warrant these, I'm considering getting a pair. Right now, my feet get cold even on some chillier fall mornings during the first hour or so. My current cotton garbage wasn't cutting it. I trust you Quick...sometimes:D
My feet ALWAYS get cold too...no matter what I do to keep them warm but...I wear a lightweight scentlok sock and then Redhead's 16" Mountain Bear Socks...Very warm pair of socks!!
These are the boot insulators I mentioned earlier. When it's cold enough to warrant wearing these, I put them on as soon as I get situated in my stand. This is one time that hot & sweaty feet won't matter. Like Quick, I also throw a hand warmer down in each one when its really cold. Best hunting purchase I've made. This is a pic from last season.
