Great subject to discuss, right? In all seriousness, I'm in dire need of upgrading my socks. I'm looking for both lightweight, moisture wicking in the early season as well as a good (possible layer) WARM sock for cold mornings mid season and all day sits later in the season. Keep in my mind, no matter what, my feet ALWAYS are the first to get cold, so the more insulation, the better.

    Let's hear your suggestions.

I always wear socks unless its summer time and the rare occasion I wear flipflops.

Like previously said I like Merino wool socks. I place more emphasis on my boots than socks though and hardly ever wear the wool socks unless its really cold.

The Filson's are nice, I have a couple pairs of their mid weight. I also have a couple pairs of the high cushion Smartwool socks that I use when I'm doing a lot of hiking. I'm certainly no sock guru, but have gone through quite a few pairs and these are the best I've found.

If your feet always get cold, maybe you should buy warmer boots. On those extra cold mornings I put the boots on the boot dryer the night before. Nice and toasty...at least for a couple of hours. My best socks are alpaca wool, my friends raise them. The socks are expensive, but warm and soft.

Rocky makes some light and heavy socks that do what you need. There in the sporting goods or hiking section.

I don't remember the brand name of my socks anymore, but I know they normally run $18/pair. I bought 18 pair of them for $110 off of ebay a few years back. Best hunting gear decision I may have ever made. I'm literally set for life with the best fitting, fast drying, moisture wicking socks I've ever come across. I wear them from June to January. They keep your feet cool in hot weather and warm in cool weather.

I wear Smart Wool socks and have a decent pair of boots. BUT my feet still would get cold until I bought some boot insulators. Quite possibly the greatest hunting investment I've ever made.

For a base layer sock, I wear these until I can't stand the smell. These are the greatest pair of socks I have ever owned. I wish I could find them somewhere again. They seem to be sold out everywhere. This site has them on clearance and I can't figure out how to buy them........

Had the same problem, feet were always first to get cold. After upgrading my boots i picked up a pair of Under Armour coldgear socks. They work great and best of all no more cold feet!

Socks have never helped me stay warm.I've used Smart Socks,no help....
The best I've ever used is the Mickey Mouse Military boots.Or if u don't like those huge *****es,try an old blanket with a 1/2 dozen hand/foot warmers.works for me in the stand.
Besides if u use the ''Mickeys'' u will stay put all day(nobody wants to walk around in those clown boots)

I have the same problem with my feet getting super cold. I now wear light socks so my feet dont sweat when walking in. Once in the tree, I put a Hot Hand over my toes outside my boots using a rubberband. Then I stick my feet in a pair of boot blankets. Feet will stay super warm.
